Newcastle Fail In Attempt To Sign Former Left-Back

Newcastle are trying to get a left-back in before the transfer window closes in less than six hours time – and their pursuit of our former left-back Jose Enrique, whose career has completely stalled at Liverpool, is said to have broken down.

Jose left Newcastle for Liverpool in the summer of 2011, but he has been left in the wilderness at Liverpool and appeared for them only 20 times over the last three seasons.

Jose Enrique – while at Newcastle

The 30-year-old Spanish full-back had a successful career at Newcastle after he was signed by Sam Allardyce back in the summer of 2007 and he spent four good years at Newcastle playing 129 times for us with one goal and helped us get promoted back to the Premier League in 2010.

However Sky Sports is reporting it looks like the talks have broken down with the player unable to agree terms with Newcastle.

Jose Enrique – in Liverpool colors

Jose Enrique will become a free agent in the summer when his contract at Liverpool finally runs out and the news from other sources is that he wanted a longer contract than Newcastle were willing to offer.

Wonder why we couldn’t bring him in on loan?

Hope we get a replacement for Jonjo…he’s getting a bit tiresome now like and even more surprised anyones biting.

All in all a decent window…I just hope no more of our defence pick up any injuries otherwise we’re knackered and will be relying on emergency transfers from the Championship as replacements

    Good planning Penfold…well done mate…10/10

He thought he was too good for us, and found out he wasn’t good enough for Liverpool. Tough break.

Not convinced we will bring anyone else in this window which is crazy considering our PL survival hinges on it but Ashley is the supposedly smart billionaire not me .

I still think we desperately need a LB as Dummet just isn’t good enough . Also we are one CB injury away from another Crisis especially since Williamson has now left . You would have thought with one of the worst defensive records in the PL we would have bought some defenders FFS .

Having said that we should be able to stay up with our current players and my team would be :

    ——————————Elliot——————————-

    –Janmaat——-M’bemba——-Collocini——-Dummet–

    –Sissoko———-Gini———–Shelvey——Townsend–

    ——————-Mitrovic——–Doumbia——————-

I have much higher hopes for the last 15 matches now. At least we should be able to score. Whether we can keep them out of our own onion bag is another question….

Got a feeling Berahino move will go down to the wire.

I think West Brom know they need to sell now as he hasn’t started in the league for them since October and with only 18 months on his contract his value will drop in the summer, especially with even less playing time.

Think West brom will take the 24mil on the table, just making us wait to see if anyone else stumps up more cash.

He will get £1.5 million for sitting on his arse in Liverpool , he’d want more than that for the upheaval of moving back to Tyneside , never going to happen .

Maybe McLaren has gave up on defence and we will just try to outscore the opponent like in the Norwich game .

Jose was the best LB i have seen in a toon shirt. Ok, he is 30 now, but he is a class act and would surely give us something. Hope we go back in for him. Still 5 hours and change to go.

Quite happy to pickup his £70k a week for doing nothing. Secured the big money contract and put his slippers on.

There should be a law passed allowing clubs to sack players with no compensatory payout, who don’t hold their side of the bargain. Any other high-paid profession, if you turn up and act unprofessional and half-arse your job, you won’t last long.

How can we not bring in a full back with all cover injured Haidara (Till end of March) Mbabu (unknown) & two emergency FBs midfielders, Colback (next week) & Anita (poss 2 weeks). A disaster waiting to happen with further injuries / suspensions (Colback) as soon as window shuts.
    WE can’t risk it!

    I hope so to.
Each of those players failed for various reasons. Ferreyra and Rossi hardly if ever kicked a ball, so I would guess the respective managers just didn’t fancy them.
LDJ played out of position in a team that was mentally defeated. Nachos leg fell off, and i think Ireland was injured for his spell too. We haven’t had a lot of luck.

Well Lukaku ragdolled Colo for the first 45 at home. It’s a mismatch and he’s pretty much Colo’s worst nightmare – like Weedle vs Charizard.

Hopefully with all the new signings and the cruel result against Everton fresh in their mind, we’ll see a big performance.

Just wonder if Ashley has a bet on how much Spurs might eventually pay for him – nothing like driving the price up for someone you love!
