Newcastle’s Horror Show Leaves Club In Real Crisis

This is not what was supposed to happen as we had just finished a good January transfer window with four good players coming in – and the fans had got some of their enthusiasm back for the club.

But an insipid and pathetic display against an out-of-form Everton side was another case of Newcastle not turning up for an away game and the inconsistency of this Newcastle team continues unabated and we now have 13 defeats in 24 games played.

And we have lost 9 of 12 away games and only scored 6 goals on the road.

Mike Ashley – urgent action needed if we are to save Newcastle

And it looks like this could continue until the end of the season and we will be relegated.

Certainly last night there wasn´t much cause for optimism – Steve McClaren admitted after the game we went back to being as poor as we were three or four months ago.

It was five steps back last night.

This was the first time Everton have won in the league since they beat us 1-0 at home six games ago.

It is the first time Everton have won at Goodison since November 21st, so it’s not as if we were playing an in-form side either.

But it was obvious once their first goal went in from Aaron Lennon after 23 minutes that Newcastle were never going to be in this game and if this doesn´t set the alarm bells off at Newcastle nothing will.

And quite honestly the way the club is managed these days it’s the polar opposite of the way it  was managed under Freddy Shepherd and we never seen to fire a manager – however bad the results are.

Steve McClaren started this season with 3 points from 8 games and now with two thirds of the season gone we have taken 4 points in the last seven league games.

It´s just not good enough but whether Mike Ashley will act we don´t know.

Lee Charnley will do nothing because both John Carver and Steve McClaren – two disastrous appointments – were both his.

Lee did absolutely nothing last year as John Carver almost had us relegated losing eight games in a row and nine of the last eleven games of th seaosn.

And given that scare last season it makes it even worse that we have allowed this catastrophe to happen this season.

Here are the terrible league results since  John Carver took over from Alan Pardew at the start of last year.

Head CoachPlayedWonDrawnLostGFGAGDPoints

If Mike Ashley wants to have a Premier League club in the summer he will have to act and act decisively.

A defeat against West Brom on Saturday at home would be another tragic loss for Newcastle.

And we even expect Steve McClaren to come out today and say he needs time to have the team gel – but we don’t have the time.

And to make matters worse we lost both Mbemba and Dummett to injury last night and Jamaal Lascelles got himself sent off with two stupid yellow cards late in the game.

That´s three defenders we will not have for Saturday? game  and injuries will soon start to take a toll again – it has every other season at this point and out squad is still too small.

And didn´t we just let Mike Williamson leave for Wolves?

Incompetence is biting Newcastle hard this season and in all honesty it looks like it´s going to be extremely difficult for us to avoid being relegated after last night´s complete horror show,.

Good job we were not playing an in-form team.

Gutted! Last night was a game we should have been targeting for points, All day I was saying we will win, and in the end we didn’t even bother trying.

That was a woeful display brought about by the ineptitude of the head coach.

The players we have are not bad players, but the system Macca used, playing Perez upfront on his own was just diabolical.

We simply could not get any sort of control in the game and that was obvious from the first minute, and after the first few minutes we have had a couple of warning shots across our bow.

Macca did nothing……….Nothing, he just sat there looking on with that vacant expression across his face.

The system had one positive only, it made Everton look better than they are.

Macca needs to go, ÂŁ28m spent in January, in a serious relegation battle, and Macca want to experiment with the squad setup.

They have had a mighty kick up the jacksey, who knows what to expect, one thing for sure it’s a must win game, Pulis will fancy his chances, I say play Doumbia no one will know anything about the lad, the loanee just might pull us and Mclaren out of the doodar.

No. I live on the Continong!

It looks like next season’s revised target will be mid-table mediocrity in the Championship.

Macca is predictable and even though we have new faces in the set up and subs always seem to lead us to disaster. He has no tactical awareness he can see the rocks on the reef, but he is still steering towards them.

I can only assume that if he is getting any advice of the backroom staff it is either bad advice or he is ignoring them.

This team should be good enough for mid table safety at the very least, even Carver would have had a better go at it.

The simple fact is Macca is not good enough to lead us out of trouble.

Most of us had reservations about the appointment of a failed Championship manager, but were willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

He might be a good coach but he’s a clueless manager. His time is up!

It might be the likes of Gouffran, Townsend, Colback, as I think the good players will already have their agents looking for an out for them.

This is a team that have hardly play 5 games together. What can we expect.

The players bought in are hardly world class but decent and they are position that are suppose to be filled ages ago.

These players needs some games together to progress and i believe they will. I thought MC will go out to defend/ counter for a Draw at lease. Such a let down by the coaches.

For all McClaren’s pushing for more time, he really ought to resign or if he won’t do that, be replaced. But by whom?

The Club say they don’t do knee-jerk well fair enough, but the signs of relegation have been there for some time and we all remember last seasons debacle under Carver.

Ashley has to make the call on McClaren as for sure, Charnley won’t do what should have been done a couple months ago.

How could we look so poorly set-up? Mclaren had two weeks to prepare for that match, with only Townsend changing things (but he was a like for like swap on the left wing).

Just poor management. I still cannot fathom why he would ever choose to have perez up by himself; he is a box to box midfielder, and he needs the ball to his feet. Unfortunately for mclaren, by the time this twigged, we had already lost the game.

Moyes and Rodgers have been mentioned. Not very inspiring choices, but the transfer window has shown a slight adjustment in policy. Maybe one of them could be attracted.

    Jesper / Ron

Ashley will always be ultimately to blame, and Penfold?Carr for their choice of Ah erm; Head Coach!

But at the business end it getting the team playing football, (something we find difficult) it has to be down to the idiot picking the team and formation.

Like Ron says, we all had our doubts about Macca, a failed manager on many levels but we gave him a chance.

Last night just showed how naive we were to offer him that chance. if he stays we will be relegated, if they leave it to late to bring in a new man we will be relegated.

We a deep in trouble and heading down, Ashley will have to act quickly or suffer even more humiliation.

You make the point Ed that, with defenders falling like flies, we’ve just sold Willo. We’ve also just sold Ferguson, an international left sided defender.
McClaren states that the performance yesterday was unacceptable. What is far more unacceptable is the selling of two defenders at a time when we have been crying out for better defensive cover for at least two transfer windows.
This is nothing less than an abject dereliction of duty by those employed to safeguard the premiership survival of NUFC for the fans and the city of Newcastle.
Action now Ashley, or get the hell out !

lesh…which I think makes Charnley the real problem. He won’t do his job.

Should the owner really have to come to this conclusion. If so why is Charnley there. I would rather Ashley woke up and the dross he has appointed and the dross they seem to appoint as well.

Are we to believe there is no accountability just Mike Ashley?

80m spent and we still have to start Coloccini and Dummet… That says it all, we’ve not strenghtened in the right positions. We’ve brought in some decent players, yet we are conceding goals for fun.

We clearly can’t defend, that defensive approach is not working so why not have a go? Then we would at least be entertained, watching NUFC now is dreadful.

Well what I can see is our home form is going to be crucial in the run in. Can forget winning anything on the road when we play like that. no energy, cuttless complete lack of any willingness.

colo should be moved to dm when colback is not availible. Comfortable on the ball and his pace is hidden there.

Saviet played cent but a bit of a headless chicken still just running around. Arons should go on lone. Not good enough for premier league. Bigger problem is his attitude. Look disinterested from the word go, looks pissed off playing at left back.

Lascelles looked half decent for a while until he lost his head and got himself sent off.

Janmaat and Elliot probably the only two that can walk away from that with any credibility.

Not sure what we going to do about defence on Saturday. Guess pray that colback is back because if arons have to play there we lose before we start.
