In A Must-Win Game – Newcastle Will Win

It’s turning into a must-win game for Newcastle and Steve McClaren tomorrow against West Brom and Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has given his view on how the game will go.

One thing we can count on is Tony Pulis’ side, as usual,  will make it very difficult tos core and that’s where Newcastle must be patient – but also must score.

We cannot win if we cannot score – and that could be a problem for us.

paul merson

Paul Merson – takes Newcastle to win

This is how Paul Merson has to say about the game:

This has the makings of a good game. West Brom under Tony Pulis rarely lose to sides at the bottom and they play well away from home.Saying that, I’ve got to go for Newcastle to get the win.

They’re at home, they’ve got all their new signings and they need to bounce back from their defeat at Everton.

It’s a must-win game for Newcastle, they’ll be thinking they haven’t got too many of these sort of games remaining.

What Newcastle have done this season in their inconsistent way is that after a disastrous display – like we had at Everton on Wednesday evening – we come back and give a good display.

On the other hand, after a really good display and a good win we usually go and put in an awful display and lose the next game – maybe that comes next week at Stamford Bridge if we can win tomorrow?

And we have lost five of the last seven games so it’s really time for a win tomorrow.

And if we don’t win tomorrow Mike Ashley will have to consider long and hard whether Steve McClaren will taking Newcastle down – and that would be an unmitigated disaster for the club and everybody associated with Newcastle United.

We hope Paul Merson will be right and we can win tomorrow – but a draw will not be good enough – we need the points.

However fans are not all that confident we can get the win tomorrow – although it is the majority choice.

“Three Players Out Injured – Newcastle Short Of Players Again”

GOOD hope they score 3-0 against us…..relegation is what the management deserve.

Seeing fat Ash losing all that money will be soon enjoyable.

So Macca couldn’t envisage three defenders out, we all knew it would happen it always does, if you leave yourself light in a position sods law says you will suffer for it and we are.

They should have and could have brought in a couple of defenders, the whole fan base could see we needed them, but apparently the idiots that run the club know better!

And they wonder why we are in this mess.

Got to start with two up front. ..
I am unsure if we should start with Perez and Mitro or to start Doumbia with one of them.
Would it be better to have Doumbia come on when their defence is tiring…..Do we go flat out with Mitro and Doumbia….
Right I have decided – Mitro and Doumbia to start then Perez off the bench.
Got to get at them and take some shots. Put them on their back foot.

I think it’s still too early to really panic, still games left but not many. I might panic after the game !
    Massive game this

Might be an idea to have Townsend as lb tomorrow, the lad can run and has more experience than Aarons who really shouldn’t have been asked to play there. That way him and Janmaat give us options attacking too.

Shelvey RM, Gini in cm with Saivet behind him, Aarons on the left, Mitro and Doumbia my lord up top. 442 at home against this lot is a must.

either play the youngin from the under 21’s or goofy, aarons is hopeless there….i know it has’nt seemed to have worked when used recently but maybe 3 at the back is worth thinkin about….

    ———————perez———-mitro/doumbia—————–
start with mitro and see which of him and perez need replacing by doumbia…..probs get shit for this side, but just an idea to try keep players in there better positions.

I think I would start with Mbabu at LB, he was decent for us there and definitely a better option to Aarons.

    Krul

    Janmaat, Taylor, Collo, Mbabu

    Perez, Saviet, Shelvey, Townsend

    Gini,

    Mitrovic / Doumbia

Doumbia is fast…That causes problems for any defence. Others can gain from possible mistakes.

hibbitt…what really surprise me is McM didn’t empathize how important a defender was. He’s the only one on the board with real knowledge of the game and what we need. If he didn’t think the defense needed upgrade and numbers then he’s just as much to blame.

It was in The Mag mate so I don’t know how accurate the info is.

On the other hand Kevin Mbabu is fit and available, along with Steven Taylor, Steven McClaren indicating that the centre-back is set to start alongside Fabricio Coloccini.

firebug…I don’t like this 4-2-3-1 formation here. It has never worked. You need a completely different defence to make it work and the triangle in the centre need to be in tune.

I would rather Townsend was pushed further up and Perez substituted Sissoko. Then have a midfield three of Saivet, Wini and Shelvey.

    jesper

I don’t like the 4-2-3-1 either, so I went for the 4-4-1-1, I put Perez in there instead of Sissoko because it’s my belief that if we are ever going to get the best from Sissoko he need to be shown he is not unpardonable, he only ever plays in games that suit him anyway.

While Perez does not have the strength of Sissoko, he offers something different on the right, he has clever feet, and when he is not forced to cut in side (when playing on the left) he will get crosses in from the right, and maybe a goal or two.

I just think playing him on the right will benefit him and the team, and give Sissoko the kick up the jacksie that he needs.

On 5th Feb 2012, a little known International footballer with no experience in the English Premier League, came on as a sub and scored the winning goal against Aston Villa. That same player then went on to score 11 goals in a span of 7 consecutive wins for Newcastle United beating West Brom, Norwich, Liverpool, Swansea, Chelsea and Stoke in the process.
