Newcastle´s Injuries Starting To Cause Problems Again

7:43 am, Friday, February 5th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 10 Comments

Chancel Mbemba has started every Premier League game for us so far this season but when he had to come off at Everton on Wednesday night just before half time we had both back-up center-backs Jamaal Lascelles and Steven Taylor on the bench.

Jamaal came on and got himself sent off at the very end of the game and is now suspended for tomorrow´s game against West Brom and Paul Dummett had a tight hamstring (again) and didn´t return in the second half.

Chancel Mbemba – unlikely to play tomorrow

Jack Colback just missed out on the game on Wednesday and both Chancel and Jack will be assessed today and we should hear from McClaren whether either can play tomorrow.

If we cannot win this game against West Brom it will be really serious because we are already 5 points behind 5th bottom Swansea and 2 points behind 4th bottom Norwich.

We have to start winning games if we are to survive this season.

Mbemba has been one of the few successes this season but now has to be doubtful, because he has suffered a recurrence of an ankle problem he had picked up in training – and it may too risky for him to play – better give him a week to recover than make the injury worse.

This is what McClaren said about the center-back:

“Chancel had had a knock in training and hadn’t trained for a while,” . “He passed a fitness test, but it looks as though he’s redone that.”

It´s also not certain that Jack Colback will make the game and if he doesn´t start at left back we suppose winger Rolando Aarons could start there with Dummett, Haidara and Mbabu all out injured.

All three of those players pick up a lot of injuries each season and it was a real pity we couldn´t get a left back in last month.

And we expect Steven Taylor to come in to partner Colo at the back and certainly the last time he played at Manchester United way back in August he had a great game – but here´s another player who picks up injuries every season.

This is what Steve McClaren said about Steven Taylor:

“We’ve got Steven Taylor, who is coming back to fitness,” “We have to look at the wounded and get a team out for Saturday.”

“With the left-back, we really tried to bring someone in, but failed to do so,”

“But that’s just one of those things that happens. It was unfortunate that all the problems came in defence.”

We expect injuries to start hitting the squad again – if only because that´s what´s happened in previous seasons at this time of the year.

And even though we always get lots of injuries each season nothing seems to be done to plan for that – like having a bigger squad than most clubs for example.

From last post as this one came out wishing about 5 mins! – I don’t like to pick but please will you stop using the word “can”! Of course they “can” just like in the poll that asked “can” McClaren be a success, again of course he “can” it is a possibility of you had of asked “will” that McClaren poll would have had markedly different results! As for west brom, I think we’ll probably win.

    Repost from last post

We’ll beat West Brom at home. If we don’t beat them at St James (after they drew to Swansea and Aston Villa) then we’ll need divine intervention a mgnr change won’t be enough.

If we do beat them and get back on track I can see points out of both the Chelsea and Stoke fixtures on the trot and a win at home to Bournemouth.

All in all given we are in the drop zone our schedule is pretty favourable with fixtures against West Brom, Bournemouth, Mackems and Norwich (all within 8 points in next 7 or so matches).

    Season ain’t over yet.

    HWTL!!!

    Ron/Jesper

Good morning lads: The simple truth is most if not all of the idiots charged with getting us out of relegation, (that’s the same idiots that got us in it in the first place), are people who have been employed in jobs above their pay grade.

Ashley is ultimately to blame, no doubting that. But Charnley out of his depth, a secretary promoted from within an just happy to have somebody else licking the stamps. Carr is a good scout but is employed above that station and making too many mistakes (maybe in the name of profit for Ashley), Moncur is an ambassador for the club and really offers nothing else to the modern game, and quiff heed McClaren, a mostly fail manager who because of his friendship with Carr gets the gig as a favour from his pal.

Beyond that who know what we have in the backroom, but these four back slapping ass licking incompetent idiots have control over the day to day running of the club, and there is not one jot of dynamism from the four of them together.

Old farts sipping tea and talking about the good old days and how they want to bring those day back, but not one of them has a clue as to where to start.

Ashley has really done well with this bunch, you can go years without finding a full on 14 caret barmpot and he Ashley has found four of them right under our noses.

If we’re down to the bones defensively again and both Colback and Anita are out then I’d play Townsend as left back and have Aarons in front of him,

    something like

    Elliot

    Janmaat Colo Saylor Townsend

    sissoko Shelvey Saivet Winji

    Mitro Doumbia

Sissoko should be dropped just to teach the lazy tw@t a lesson but we have no-one else to provide the width and pace and drive.

So what’s our defence gonna look like without Dummet, Lascelles, Mbemba and maybe Taylor (is he fit?). If Colback is back he could play LB.

With the left-back, we really tried to bring someone in, but failed to do so,” Bull crap!!!
There are a number of clubs who would have sold for the right price and all we needed was someone to cover. They were more interested in overcrowding the mid and getting a st in. Defence wins games but the chiefs again took the risk. The poor goal diff would surely tell you somethings not right at the back?

I think Perez on the right would do OK mate, at any rate he would be better than Sissoko has been.

They had a whole month to look for and bring in defenders, and months before that to make enquiries, This just highlights the incompetence of the powers that be, even more incompetent because they let defenders leave the club.

With the defence in tatters we are virtually sitting ducks if we ‘sit in the game’. In my view Mc needs to grow a pair, roll the dice and go all out attack. Mitro with Doum to start, towns on the wing, wij or probably Sissy other side. Either would be good as an impact sub anyway.
If Colback is fit pair him up with Shelvey, anyone could see it’s the best CM combo we have right now to get the best out of Shelvey.
That leaves Aaron’s at left back which isn’t ideal but if we’re forgetting about defending, because we can’t, at least he will give us another going forward plus.

well i cant see a way out of it really we,ve brought a striker mitro who cant hit a barn door complete waste of money, we leek goals galore a lb in 31 days should of been sign instead of a french midfielder, tatactics etc etc most of the teams in this league have a goal scorer are only hope is domindo hits the ground running but my shout would be please staf fit cisse and get the ball to him and thats the bottom line and lets hope west brom dont play berinho as that gives them miles better chance than we have. this is every bloody season ashleys splashed the cash but y does he employ numpties its 3 managers now who have got nowere with this bunch if you belief in god stasrt praying and sunderland have defo lol
