McClaren’s Relentless Message To Newcastle Players

Newcastle looked in big trouble last Wednesday night after we were well beaten 3-0 at Everton and we remained in 3rd bottom place in the league.

Now Rolando Aarons – who surprised us on Saturday with a very good performance at an unaccustomed position of left back in such an important game – has told the press what Steve McClaren has been telling the players since that disastrous performance and result.

Rolando Aarons – Newcastle left-back?

This is what Rolando said after the game on Saturday, when we brilliantly bounced back to get a great win with an excellent performance:

“The gaffer has been talking to us everyday since Everton about bouncing back and getting a reaction from the team and I think we did that today.”

“We’re out of the bottom three which was our goal at the start of the day now it’s just about staying clear of that.”

“In the situation we are in we need to make St. James’ Park a fortress, and the past few games we’ve started to show how good we can be at home.”

Yes, we need to make St. James’ Park a fortress – to use a very well-worn phrase – but we must also start picking up points (and wins) away from home too.

Chelsea next Saturday will be a chance for the players to show they don’t only perform when there are 50,000 Geordie fans cheering the side on.

We need to get something at Stamford Bridge before our 18 day break when we visit Stoke City on Wednesday, March 2nd.

One swallow does not a summer make. That result is for naught if we don’t build on it over the next coming games. Time to put a run of performances together. Should be aiming for minimum of a draw at Chelski, they’re not playing great and have Champ League to focus on.

Agree completely. This needs to be 1 or 3 points. That would set us up well for the run-in to the end as we’d be moving in on a bit of a high pulling points off of the reigning champions (although they may not be doing that title any justice, these days). If we can only pick up points at home and not always 3, then we will go down so it’s got to start on the road. Let’s see a positive performance (not just counter-attacking) and take three off of them.

Gini, Doumbia Perez and Mitro should all be gunning for a goal this weekend – I hope they all get theirs!

Well the U21’s had Sterry sent off and gave away a pen to put Stoke 1 up, but we have managed to grab a Pen ourselves so half time 1-1, come on Toon smash Stoke with our ten men.
