Last Wednesday was supposed to be the introduction of our new team after Newcastle had done well in the transfer market with the acquisition of four new players.
Yes, it was a difficult game at Everton but there was hope because The Toffees were going through a really tough spell and what better time to get a good result at Goodison Park?
But it didn’t exactly turn out that way with 10 of our players asleep in the first half – and only Rob Elliot keeping Newcastle in the game with some alert saves.
Moussa Sissoko tussles with Bryan Oviedo at Goodison
And when Everton went ahead in the first half they even seemed shocked by the goal from Aaron Lennon – it was so easy – and that gave them great confidence to go on and win the game.
We ended up being beaten by a score of 3-0 after two of our more inexperienced players – Aarons and Lascelles – gave penalties away in the last few minutes – so 3-0 looked as through we were taken apart to the casual observer.
While it wasn’t that bad – it wasn’t good either – and once again when our hopes were high Newcastle turned in another unacceptable below-par performance.
Moussa Sissoko has talked about that today and he admits there were some tough days after the game before our lads decided to turn up against West Brom in front of 50,000 Geordies and then gave one of their best displays of the season and win 1-0.
Did we say Newcastle were completely inconsistent this season?
This is what Moussa has said today:
“Away from home, sometimes we have played well but lost – of course, I am not talking about Everton which was bad – but now we have to be consistent and show what we are capable of not just at home but away from home too.”
“The players who have come in will help us stay up. The club has brought in some very good players. We now have a good team.” “I believe for the rest of the season, we can look at it positively and we can play some good football and win some games.”
“We deserved to beat West Brom so we are very happy. This week will feel much better for us than last week after Everton. They were some hard days for us.”
“But now we have a tough game coming up against Chelsea on Saturday, We have not picked up results away from home but now we believe we can go there and get something.”
Our next chance at getting something out of an away game is at Chelsea on Saturday – and it would be great to get a draw or a win there – before we start our 18 day hiatus before we play at Stoke City.
But all 11 of our players will need to turn up for that game if we are get something in London.

No problem, unfortunately for Doumbia I doubt he will even get a kick at Chelsea. Really disappointing from sterry’s perspective.

Comment #84Well Rob has now deleted his dating profile as well as his Twitter account.
I think my work is done. A big thankyou to Rob Vollans before I go though and I do apologise about the dating profile situation but you where seriously trolling the blog and getting on my nerves. It would be great if that was the end of the dirty tricks now.

Comment #86Lee Charnley to speak about January business – as February Fans Forum date confirmed
http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/lee-charnley-speak-january-business-10863310?
Newcastle United ’s hierarchy will make their first public statement on their January transfer business and the club’s current situation at the Fans Forum later this month.
The club have informed fan representatives that the second meeting of the season will be on February 22, during United’s enforced 18-day break.
The agenda is set by supporters but it is anticipated that the club’s business in January, the threat of relegation and Steve McClaren will be among the questions the club will be set. Managing director Lee Charnley will lead the club’s delegation.
Charnley and United have issued a number of statements to supporters this season but the last of his open letters was on September 25. The club’s last Fans Forum was on October 21, where Newcastle admitted they were disappointed by the start to the campaign but pledged to invest more in the squad.
Back in September, Charnley wrote in a wide-ranging email: “We made a pledge to communicate more effectively with you and when we did so, we were aware this must be the case through thick and thin, in the bad times as well as the good.”
The club are inviting fans to contact one of the 15 Forum members if they have an issue they want raised at this month’s meeting.

It’s a shame that you have failed. I don’t see the point in your existence on this blog and the fact that you think you’re right is hilarious. This is the last I’m going to talk to you on this matter because the blog is already suffering.

I hope so, he has a fairly big reputation and he has performed well in the champions league. He just needs time to get into shape but I’m sure we’ll see the best of him. However I doubt we will sign him, he’s too old although age is what we lack. Why do you think Tiote was so important to our team? The answer is experience.

It’s a very good idea to have that game in the middle of those 18 days, we don’t want the players getting lazy.
Shame we couldn’t get two games in to keep the match fitness up.

Lump me in with that too. It’s fcuking farcical mate and tbh pretty pointless trying to have any sort of debate/exchanging of views.
Sad really but Ed got warned over a year ago about it mate.

Yeah, the other night was just diabolical, their needs to be some kind of moderation, if Ed cannot do it the maybe he should appoint some of the more sensible regulars ( I know that’s me and you out 😀 ) to do the job, even if they are just blocked temporarily to give Ed a chance to see what has gone on.

Sorry m8, but I think your asking the wrong blogger, it sounds like some reference to Roy Orbison, but I’m lost with your question or what the meaning is/was !

Thanks for coming back. I worked it out with the help of Google. It was Roy Orbison who died before I was born. You learn something new every day he sang a number with that line in it “It’s over”.

WBA were poor and made us look good, or better than we are, we kept spurning our chances, and that’s a worry, we should have been four of five goals to the good.

I hope your are right mate, I do think Shelvey and Townsend will get better as they gel with the team, and I hope ” Mitro is on Fire, your defence is terrified” having scored in the last game now has a bit more confidence to start the ball rolling (it to the net will do nicely) and get his tally growing for the season.

“going from 5th to 4th bottom was not because we didnt buy anyone, there was enough in the squad to at least finish mid table, there was no excuse for us not try to play any kind of football at all during that season, as IMO opinion he bottled it even against the very poor teams who we had a miles better squad than.
early rounds in Europe where mostly played by kids who won games , so he did mix it up…
simple fact is he is and was not good enough”
so sh1t management is the only reason a team will go from 5th place to 14th place well I shall keep this page as memory to make it easy proof what you just said was said and we shall see how much of this is true next season.
bullsh1t. jose morineo is one of the greatest managers around but chelsea were sitting around relegation zone for the majority of his spell, what’s happened since then might be moving them up but if he were still there they’d probably not be in such good form.
arsene wenger had an arsenal team called the invinsibles, no defeat the entire season now he’s main aim is generally 4th place
As for yourself get up off your @rse and head down to the betting shop and put £100 on leicester city to finish top 10next season because you’ll get good odds thats for sure and based on how you view managers this team should most certainly be in top 10
