Alan Shearer Responds To Shambolic First Half Display

7:34 pm, Saturday, February 13th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 35 Comments

This is how Alan Shearer reacted at half time after Newcastle were 3-0 down – all scored in the first 17 minutes and we looked a complete shambles.

What had the players and Steve McClaren been doing on the training field all week?

Can’t wait for Mc to say how fabulous we played and just unlucky.

  • 2 GeordieTwo // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:37 PM

Shambolic. What was McCarver doing keeping Aarons on as LB? Ridiculous. Should have started Colback at LB and gone 4-4-2 from the start. An isolated striker is pointless. Doumbia had no better chance than Mitro. McCarver is a football dunce. We were about as useful as a cow flop…

  • 3 John Akomfrah // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:37 PM

surely that should read the worst player

  • 4 ilovetoon8788 // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:37 PM

Taylor sissoko were the worst players today. We completely lost the midfield once Tiote left. This 3-5-2 is becoming an embarrassing. Mclaren still persist on using it. I wonder What’s in his head.

We need a new manager or we are going down. We need to hope Norwich and the scums drop

  • 5 Fabricio - out of position - Coloccini // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:38 PM

McClaren is too naive or he just lacks the tactical knowledge to set up a team. Perhaps both…

We need a new manager asap!

Mclaren Wil spout his usual rubbish that he will demand a reaction and we must do better next game. It’s the same thing he says after every single pathetic away game showing.

  • 7 archaeomag // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:38 PM

We needed a left back and a goal scorer – so we bought some more midfielders
Time for the Board to be sacked as usual.

So six home matches left – our only chance of getting any more points, surely.

  • 10 GeordieTwo // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:41 PM

I love calling him McCarver. It fits him so well….. 😆

  • 11 manxpie // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:42 PM

    new manager again

our last managers to come in through a season

do you really think or want another masterclass saviour?

  • 12 colwell // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:42 PM

Exactly like Pardew take shite after every loss come to think of it has anyone seen Pards and McClaren in the same room before?

  • 13 Lindisfarne // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:43 PM

Shteve could have instructed Shelvey / Tiote / Sissoko to hold a strong line to snub out Chelsea’s strong attacking midfield. I know hindsight is a luxury but the weak defence was apparent very early in the match and needed attention to get us in to the game.

  • 14 mindshaft // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:43 PM

Ed – please add a nobody option to best player poll, they were all diabolical – usually Elliot has saved us from this sort of rout today but he couldn’t pull off miracles every game
Sadly McClaren has turned out to be pretty much as everyone expected… useless

  • 15 JackButler // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:43 PM

Ashley has 18 days to sack SM and appoint the right manager or see us go down. No matter what happens this season, if we stay up or go down Charnley and Carr must be sacked as they are not fit to run any form of football club

  • 16 GeordieTwo // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:44 PM

    Management oot!

  • 17 WWSBRD // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:44 PM

    My word…I just…I don’t know

McClaren deserves to be sacked not just for today but his overall performance has been terrible

  • 18 GeordieTwo // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:45 PM

    Boom, boom, boom boom boom!
    Boom boom boom boom!
    We suck!

  • 19 MidlandsMag // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:45 PM

Brilliant post! Thank you for making me laugh after being so close to tears.

Anywhere else Wally would be sacked. Cannot get them to play, wasted money and might be premature but that Doumbia looks a knacker as well.

Last weekend Gomis said that Newcastle had made an approach to him -just lets you see the standard/level we are looking at.

and non of them deserve a Spanish jolly.

  • 22 Belfast // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:46 PM

Can’t fault the players they gave us everything *cough* Yep.

  • 23 Ron Knee // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:47 PM

I’d be surprised if McClaren was sacked after this match. I don’t think Charmless and Co. will have seen it as winnable.

  • 24 JackButler // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:48 PM

We’ve spent over £100 million but still field to same centre halfs we had in the championship SIX years ago!!!

If it wasn’t so damn pathetic, it would be hilarious

  • 25 WWSBRD // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:48 PM

    Good goal by Townsend though

  • 26 NoahJ // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:48 PM

    drop sissoko, wiji, taylor

    recall: colback, perez, lascelles

    recall from loan: Armstrong. satka

may as well play promising youngesters who actually care about playing for the club.

  • 27 eaststandgeordie1982 // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:49 PM

Ashley will pull the trigger he has to much to lose after spending all that cash

  • 28 stripes1009 // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:49 PM

Can somebody please explain to me how someone with Champions league aspirations (Sissoko) can keep a Champions league experienced player (Siem de Jong) out of the team. De Jong started when we got our back to back wins, he was Captain at Ajax, so he’s no mug!
Looks like the owner is hoping to get his wish now the horse has been bolted to the cart…..we are going places……THE CHAMPIONSHIP……utter dross.

  • 29 anthc // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:49 PM

Pains me to say but it was easier watching sunderland today. They have passion, determination and the desire. We have sweet fa, no balls, guts or fight in us.

  • 30 GeordieTwo // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:49 PM

The defense will take us down if anything does. That was a laughable back four (and then back three today). Aarons? Not a fullback Steve. Wake up. Saylor? Finished as a footballer. Far too many leg injuries. Colo? Too old, too small, past it. Janmaat? Decent going forward but not defensively useful. A liability in a defense like ours. A wingback at best. Disastrous lack of cover along the back four. Has been so for years and years now.

  • 31 Lindisfarne // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:51 PM

    First paragraph says it all:

  • 32 stripes1009 // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:51 PM

Come back King Kev…….you are our messiah…..and you are needed now!!!!!!

  • 33 Charlie in the Gallowgate // Feb 13, 2016 at 7:53 PM

    St Valentines Massacre
where do we go from here….

    down down and down
Got to have the most under-performing players in the premiership or are they just shite.
Sunderland will take the piss out of us again sadly next month – might give the game amiss sick of getting F***in embarrassed.
Can we have the worst player on the pitch award
    I’ll give it to…
Steven Taylor has one good game and believe’s in his own hype-absolute disgrace today.
If I had to pick our best player Townsend.
    after that rest pathetic.
