It´s really a joke the number of injuries Newcastle players pick up every season and nothing is ever done about it.
Once again we have suffered more injuries this season than any other Premier League club and that doesn´t help our relegation battle one little bit.
Fans noticed that Aleksandar Mitrovic was not on the plane to La Manga in Spain and some reasons were offered up – such as his girlfriend is expecting a baby.
But it looks like he´s picked up a medial ligament injury to his knee and he will be out a couple of weeks, which means he´s likely to miss the next couple of games at Stoke and at home to Bournemouth.
Aleksandar Mitrovic – injured
Newcastle´s under-fire manager Steve McClaren had said this to say about the 21 year-old Serbian International:
“He’s got a knee injury,” “We’re only bringing players here who can actually train over the next four days, and play in the game on Saturday.”
“Mitro has a medial ligament injury, so it could be a couple of weeks – we’re hoping not too long.”
With Papiss Cisse now fit again he will likely be a direct replacement and it may even be a good policy for McClaren to start using the experienced players in the side in these upcoming games.
McClaren has apparently persuaded the Board a number of times this season to stick with him, because he´s told them he knows what he´s doing and can get Newcastle out of the mess we are in.
But patience seems to be wearing thin, because over six months and 26 games into the season we are still 3rd bottom of the league and have put in two of our worst performances in the last three games.
It´s a very serious situation Newcastle are in right now and just like last season the Board are hesitant about what to do.
Anther less kind way of saying that they don´t know what to do.
The truth is have already waited too long to replace McClaren.
