Sky Sports Pundits Slam Newcastle For Ridiculous Spain Jolly

2:53 pm, Saturday, February 20th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 69 Comments

Newcastle fans were horrified by the abject and disgraceful performance put in by Newcastle at Chelsea last Saturday, when it looked like our players were dreaming of their mid-season holiday break coming up in southern Spain.

Oh sorry, we mean the very hard work they were going to put in at the La Manga camp and a brutal two training sessions a day that was coming up.

Paul Merson – slams Newcastle’s decision

Sky Sports pundits – especially Paul Merson thought that was just a ridiculous decision made by the Newcastle club and we suppose Steve McClaren in particular.

At the very least it certainly was not a good PR move after too many of our players took the day off last Saturday in London – and our inside information is that at least two of our players who started the game already thought they were on holiday.

Where’s the odious Hail Wor Ashley with his inane commentary bore fest haven’t seen him since Ed’s cull.

  • 4 Uncertain Toon // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:02 PM

To that end there must be a stream out there somewhere, I couldn’t find it and beermonkey saved the day although it’s not easy on the eye!

Half of this lot would struggle to get in the Heed team mate

  • 8 Jail for Ashley // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:08 PM

Is it a full team out, who’s in at LB

  • 9 Uncertain Toon // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:09 PM

  • 10 Fabricio - out of position - Coloccini // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:09 PM

I can’t see us getting a result away against Stoke. So will that be enough to sack McClaren? Or do we need to lose points against Bournemouth as well and ensure that the next head coach will have an impossible task?
Watching Necwastle “play” football makes me pretty negative. Lillestrøm is the better team and they’re in pre-season!

  • 11 Jib // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:13 PM

Heres a live view of the roundabout near Lillestrom town hall – it’s more exciting

  • 12 Mag52 // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:13 PM

I’m trying to get my head around why blogger Jeffrey feels it necessary to regale the blog with detailed information on pretty any subject under the sun on a regular basis.
Is he a) showing off or b) bonkers ?

Gibson looking better than aarons for sure but this is of course a Norwegian team playing at a preseason level. The rest of the team is pants. Darlow let in a soft goal and nearly at fault for another. Doumbia invisible

  • 15 Mag52 // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:15 PM

That should read ‘pretty well’ any subject……..

  • 16 GEORDIE69 // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:15 PM

All of the football is being played by Newcastle in the opposition half… the final ball is where it all comes apart.

  • 21 Ravensd // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:17 PM

Townsend with some positive runs and low crosses almost worked an own goal

  • 22 Jib // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:19 PM

Jail…is it by design you come off as uneducated as you do? Or is it the alpha dog you are and your need to undermine others that are to blame?

I am very curious…others most be as well. So do tell!

Been trying to think of just how bad we are at the moment, but was a little lost for words … what’s an adjective that means worse than shit?

  • 41 Ravensd // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:30 PM

    Noce headed goal from aarons

  • 42 JP...from The Rock // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:31 PM

Aarons scores with a great header into the top corner.

  • 43 Ron Knee // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:33 PM

    No doubt Jeffrey will oblige!

  • 44 Uncertain Toon // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:34 PM

    Switch365,
Jeffrey the googlemeister will probably answer that for you!

  • 45 Uncertain Toon // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:36 PM

    Ravensd,
Aye, he seems to have gone 442 and a winger scores a header!

  • 49 Ravensd // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:41 PM

Doumbias hold up play is worse than cisses. Gets a bit of push back and hes down on the floor

  • 50 Jib // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:42 PM

    Riviere looks quite sprightly
He’s just decked one of their CD’s jumping for a ball

  • 51 Ravensd // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:45 PM

Dont try for goal rivi. Just pass it.

  • 52 Jail for Ashley // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:45 PM

Sorry jesper but I think it is the absolute heght of laziness that one can’t write a&e as two seperate letters, I mean how long does it take to write a single letter. If you didn’t waste time putting lines through o’s you could spell your a’s and e’s properly like civilised nations do!

  • 53 JP...from The Rock // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:45 PM

Doumbia has done nothing at all. Service might be bad but he looks nothinn like the player I thought we would be getting from Russia. Extremely dissapointing. Our saviour looks like a dud.

  • 54 Ron Knee // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:46 PM

“Riviere hits a shot straight at the keeper.” Some things never change.

  • 55 switch365 // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:46 PM

Today’s Steve McClaren post-match interview will be brought to you by the words, magnificent, dominated, excellent and the letters B and S.

  • 56 Jib // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:47 PM

3 minutes of extra time then off for Paella for 35 persons and 5 crates of San Miguel – ya cannot whack it !

  • 57 Ravensd // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:47 PM

Barlaser has made a couple of nice plays now. Looks promising

  • 58 Uncertain Toon // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:48 PM

All those words are synonyms for shit, that’s not what the good poster requested Jeffo

  • 59 Belfast // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:48 PM

I don’t think he’s played from November Jp. He looked rusty as last week.

  • 60 JP...from The Rock // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:49 PM

Only players that had a good game were; Ayoze, Aarons, That young LB. Janmaat, Wiji and Saivet.

  • 61 Jail for Ashley // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:50 PM

Aarons playing well in his right position according to the comments, I wonder how many toon fans there.

  • 62 Uncertain Toon // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:53 PM

Got a glimpse of toon fans, I’d guess a couple of hundred, majority ex pats probably

  • 63 firebug666 // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:53 PM

Winning that game is one thing, but regardless of who was playing we were still making the same mistakes, our passing at times was terrible, and getting we looked ok, until everyone stops and waits for the ball which inevitable is lost or passed backwards.

They created a lot more than we did, and in this game we should have been showing them our Premier league superiority……. OH Wait!

Nice to have a win, shocking display.

  • 64 firebug666 // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:54 PM

    *getting forward;

  • 65 Jail for Ashley // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:55 PM

    UT,
    Who’s stadium is it?

  • 66 switch365 // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:56 PM

Under Schteve we have at times played some lovely flowing football, just far too little of it and nowhere near often enough.
But what rankles me the most is this pass-back mentality, even from just outside the opposition’s box for god sake.

Far too much negative thinking, widespread throughout the team and now starting to effect Shelvey’s play style.

Could he be the first of many players to end up being McClarened?

  • 67 Uncertain Toon // Feb 20, 2016 at 3:59 PM

Would it not have made more sense to focus on the probable starting 11 for Stoke game, save for the injured lads?
I certainly wouldn’t mind giving Mclaren a clip round the ear, but I am uncertain he would respond and switch the f@ck on the numpty!

  • 68 John Akomfrah // Feb 20, 2016 at 4:01 PM
