Newcastle Hint At Pending Transfer Deals This Summer

8:11 am, Friday, February 26th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 7 Comments

Newcastle will be in the summer transfer window for sure, but our targets will change depending on whether we are a Premier League club or a Championship club in May.

If we do get relegated then it will be important to retain as many good players as possible and whereas last time  we went down the following year was a World Cup year (2010) – in 2017 there is no World Cup or European Championships taking place, so that may help us keep some of our top players.

Saido Berahino – transfer target this summer?

But the likes of Wijnaldum and Sissoko will definitely want to leave the club.

And with a lot of activity going on in January, the club hope to pick up on some of those deals they could not complete in January.

Here’s a question and answer from the Fans Forum meeting on Monday night which suggests some deals may already be in the offing.

Taylor Payne (TP) asked if previous targets who were unable to move in January would be “ready to go” in the summer.

The club stated that deals would not necessarily be at that stage but after conversations in January, dialogue will be continued with regard to several targets with a view to them coming to Newcastle during the summer window.

One such deal could be the transfer of Sadio Berahino, who we think will be a good acquisition for us, because he has shown that when he is fit he can score goals in the Premier League.

But on the other hand Graham Carr has some favorites in France such as Michy Batshuayi of Marseille and Alexandre Lacazette of Lyon, so we’ll just have to wait and see what top striker we bring in over the summer.

It may be readily apparent that we have lost confidence in those who run the club this season, simply because they seem to be inept at times and will not face up to realities – but we are still hoping we can survive the drop.

And if we do then we could have another very good transfer window, so the next two games at Stoke and at home to Bournemouth are really critical.

Two wins would be absolutely terrific and would raise the mood at Newcastle, but a couple of poor results and we will be deep in the mire of the relegation battle.

We are hoping for the former.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

Liverpool fans protest over tickets. Got a result.

Rangers fans protested over Ashley. Got a result.

When are we, as proud NUFC supporters, going to stand up and say enough is enough? No more excuses, proper investment in all positions, actual communication and participation with fans and the local community, when are we going to actually get off our backsides and no take this carp anymore? The media bans, the confidentiality agreements (probably why we hear nothing from former staff/players), the advertising vehicle for sports direct etc etc

    time to stand up

although no one will and some cretin will now say to me “support the team, not the regime”

Which “top” players would we need to keep ed?
If we drop the vultures and players agents will be in turbo mode to take ayoze and wini
None of the rest would have the fight to get us out of the championship anyway
The only players left will be the ones no one else wants
I’d go Elliott at one end and Armstrong up front
Other than that I can’t see anyone I’d be gutted to see leave

the likely players to be caught on the hook are perez/rolando/woodman and a few other youngsters and tbf i wouldnt want any of them going as we have some great youngsters who i really think will hit the nail on the head

woodman/rolando/mbabu/arma/roberts/gibson/longstaff/sterry/woolston/cobain/gilliead/heardman/balraser and my fave maccy heaney.

we def have some great prospects coming through.

The board is very naive, we’ll be in the championship next season.
