Newcastle are renowned for being at the top of the Injury Table in the Premier League almost every single season as injuries tend to decimate our squad, because it has never been very big to start with.
And at the Fans Forum meeting last Monday night a question was asked about the injuries we pick up every season and whether there was anything the club are doing to try to reduce the injuries.
Lee Charnley – Newcastle Managing Director
Here’s the question and answer from Monday night.
======
Question:
Alan Clark (AC): “We seem to be regularly top of the Premier League injury table. Are the club looking into this and also the players who are regularly injured?”
Answer:
The club outlined the immense amount of data it gathers in order to analyse players’ performance on a daily basis.
While some injuries have been unlucky, the club pays very close attention to recurring injuries in order to lessen their frequency and ensure as many players are available to play as possible.
======
Well let’s just say what’s clear – whatever Newcastle are doing with that data on injuries – it’s certainly not helping to reduce the number of injuries we get in any way and we are well on top of the table this season.
Newcastle have been top of the Premier League Injury League for a long long time – so there’s something wrong somewhere.
Here’s is the latest Injury League for games so far in the Premier League.
It’s OK collecting all the data on injuries, but if we cannot reduce the number of injuries something else should be tried.
Maybe even get some experts in to review how the club handles injuries, how we train, how we warm up, how we warm down and the like.
And we saw recently it’s possible that Newcastle sustain injuries during a warm-down when Colo picked up his calf injury in La Manga and he didn’t even play in the game.
This is very important stuff because every season the team we can put out on the field is compromised because players are simply not available due to injury.
What do you think?
Comments welcome.

Comment #84I agree that someone trying to ruin the blog ought to be banned and I corresponded with Ed myself to help get rid of you know who last week.
However telling tales about the odd bit of late night abuse from Jib doesn’t Seem right. He is what he is but if we had a vote on it I think more would prefer him not to be banned. The place wouldn’t be the same without him.

Who is Mick McManus? He sounds tough.
I like this idea of a curfew for decent people so they don’t get hurt while the drunks and thugs are allowed out on the prowl.

Comment #88Bettyswolloks ..
I see the blog going downhill each time I return, its still not rid of its trouble makers ..they do it for no good reason and it drags the blog down,
Last week I rid the blog of toonsend who was posting absolute drivel ..and abuse ..he came back a few times with different names and I got him banned. I dont care what you think about that.
The days of the toot and the schoolboy reporting to the teacher are long gone Betty , this is the real world and if you see something wrong go put it right .
Betty I can take dogs abuse and let it go right over my head ..but there is banter and there is Banter and JIB and IAN TOON crossed the line with me ..
Question ..Will you still take the same stance if ED closes the blog down because it goes too far down hill ?
Will you then reflect on what we could have done to make it better ? , By embracing Football matters and rooting out the trouble makers ,? instead of letting the abusers get away with it .
Remember Betty there is banter and there is banter ..I don’t mind a lot of it even the nasty stuff ,,but it got far too personal and nasty 2 days back and I for one think its wrong and unjust to Call someone a Stupid C@nt and also be accused of taking Illegal drugs and injecting myself ..an unprovoked attack by JIB and his cronie IAN TOON .. they went to far
I embrace argument as long as its kept at a half decent level ..dodgy language is fair enough also..
I do draw the line on someone casting aspersions that I’m Drug Addict.

You’ll have to recosider your wording about long ball because at the minute you’ve got a team sitting in first place , certain to get top4 finish and in with a great shout of chmpions, had marez scored those penalties against bournmouthe and villa they’d be sitting 6 points ahead of spurs in 2nd.
Any form of football is useful long ball is just a more simple game and players with great speed, team play and work rate. To play like a barcalona you need alot more, the back 4 needs to very good at stopping goals without as much help, you can’t afford to miss all those chances you get because general attack will be much harder becuase of a box being more well packed and most of all you need goalscorers all over your team making the opposition make greater space when marking.
We’ve got non of these we keep missing chances are constantly conceding goals from the break and have very little goal threat at all making a barcalona style of play very difficult to see results.

Comment #97Online Guy………. Without taking sides, I was referring to your altercation with Jib and you telling him he was now being monitored and moderated for abusive behaviour. Not that I am in a position to pass judgement but the comment from Ian Toon does appear to be OTT and out of context.
I would just hate the idea that we have to constantly mind our P’s andQ’s for fear of being banned. This is supposed to be what we do to relax and let off steam not to be obsessed with political correctness.
