Pundit Points Finger At McClaren For Newcastle’s Problems

Pundit Steve Claridge has told BBC Radio Five Live that Newcastle have a good squad and would be the best team to ever be relegated from the Premier League – if that indeed what happens in May, which is looking more likely with every defeat – we have four of them in the last five games.

Claridge points the finger squarely at head coach Steve McClaren, who has made a woeful job of getting the best out of the players he has available.

However, it also says that if we get a decent manager in soon Рwe could soon start seeing Newcastle picking up the points and get to safety.

Steve McClaren – should be fired – now!

It’s the fact that Steve McClaren, with such a hopeless record, has been allowed to stay in charge of Newcastle¬†that¬†is the main reason our premier league status is now in great¬†jeopardy.

This is what pundit Steve Claridge has said:

“How can Newcastle be in the bottom three?” “I can’t have that. With the players he’s got and the quality he has there, to be in the bottom three you have got to look at the manager and say ‘what are you doing here?”

” Because you’re not getting it right.”

“They said the last time they went down, it was the best team to ever go down. This will certainly be the best squad to go down if they do get relegated,”

Steve McClaren has simply been a terrible appointment by the inept Managing Director Lee Charnley¬†–¬†his second in succession after the complete disaster with John Carver last year – and the longer we keep McClaren at the club the more likely we are to be relegated.

When are the powers that be at the club going to act in the best interests of the club and fire McClaren?

If they are not going to fire him with just 24 points from 27 games then they should tell the fans why¬†that’s the case.

What’s the reasoning behind that – has he not had enough time in the job to prove he’s the right man for the job?

Here’s McClaren’s woeful record this season.

He’s failed at a number of clubs he’s been at, including Nottingham Forest and Derby County in the Championship last year, just days before Charnley appointed him to the Newcastle job.

Our Champ record last time, what an enjoyable season, lost only 4 times in the league, scored nearly 2 a game on average.

someone earlier posted we are looking at 12-15 points for safety…..in current form of us and the teams around us do we look like getting them points….i’d say no….we bournemouth(relegation threatened)but playing better football then us so its not a defo 3 points for us but needs to be
leicester….may as well not show up for this and save on the travel expenses….unless leicesters nerves get the better of them 0 points for us which most would expect truthfully.
mackems…like every newcastle fan i want to win and win big….but they have the form in this fixture and are showing a hell of a lot more fight then our lot…..imo we could get beat again best i can see is a draw…our players just dont have the fight to the mackems as has been proved in the last run of derbies…hope to god im wrong
norwich….not a good team in a dog fight like ourselves but they are at home and our away form is shocking…got beat last year down there(i believe) so every chance it could happen again…….my point is theres possibly 9 out of the 15 points there which could be taken to help keep us up at the same time putting a dent in other relegation threatened teams but i cant see it happening under maccas management…another manager now would give the team a boost and a much needed kick up the arse for sat….then over the next week to 2 weeks either side of leicester, get them prepared for the mackems and norwich….do nowt and its a huge chance lost to give us a chance to stay up

Wouldnt call it a poisoned chalice, it’s a win win Situation for anyone taking over – save us and become a miracle worker , don’t save us and we were a lost cause anyway

Nah, Shearer still gets tagged with ‘taking us down’ despite the fact we were a lost cause before he took over.

I voted for him to be sacked but it need not be the case as he is a coach, all that is needed is for the powers that be to admit a MANAGER is need, its semantics but would work. Get Rafa or Moyes or even Rodgers in ( if they would come ) as this is our only chance of survival and the boards only chance to show they know what they are doing. If there is no change there needs to be a mass revolution to show them this situation is not going to be tolerated! We are a disgrace to the EPL.

Hearing from the powers that be.
Yeh we should of heard something by now.
We support that’s all we can do.
    That’s our bit done.
When we are being disgraced week in week out we should hear from the owner.
Why is it happening and whats he gonna do about it.

I can’t see us taking an more than 10 points with him remaining in charge (& even that is being optimistic – 2 wins, 4 draws). I suspect that if we lose on Saturday then he will be sacked but by then it will be far too late anyway.
Up until now I had always though that we’d escape but after last night I can’t see any other outcome than us going down & my money would be on the scum surviving on the final day in lieu of Norwich ūüôĀ
