Former star Newcastle striker Faustino Asprilla is leading the huge outcry to get Steve McClaren removed from the club now so a new manager can come in – an experienced Premier League manager – who will have some chance of saving us in the final 10 games of the season.
McClaren has been completely and utterly out of his depth all season and our squad is a good one – we;ll at least we have spent £82M on new players this season – more than any other Premier League club.
Faustino Asprilla – former Newcastle star striker
What does that tell you about the woeful Steve McClaren?
Sack McLaren!!

Better yet resign!

Comment #1When I had that little chat with Maclaren at Leeds Bradford airport I could see then he was clueless and un-inspiring.
I’ve been lucky to have chats with quite a few newcastle ex managers and players and none left me feeling as un-inspired ass he did.
What really pissed me off was he’s quite short but he had high heel shoes on and he walked like a strutting peacock pretty much saying “look at me…I’m Steve Maclaren…ex england and current newcastle manager.”

Comment #2I think Mclaren needs a bit more time. Its un fair to judge him after todays performance.
It was tough out there and we where unlucky. Ashley please dont fire McLaren, the team has definately improved.

Comment #3It sums us up that the only totally predictable option we’re being linked with is another dour, defensive long ball Brit manager in Moyes, twice recently sacked for stinking out OT with route 1 to Fellaini and then boring the catalans to tears. Another appointment destined to end in tears and another big pay-off.
For once can’t we have a foreign coach like the top 10 clubs have. Any of Nuno, Laudrup, Benitez, Sampauli, Garcia, Ginola would be far more dynamic and inspiring.
Wish we’d for once taken a risk on someone like Viera and let him bring in his own people.
The club stinks and sadly Moyes is not the answer.

Comment #5pretty much since xmas I’ve woken up like a kid a xmas in the hope I’ll see those immortal words in print somewhere
“Maclaren sacked!”
Shame is it’ll never happen this season and won’t til he’s hovering over the relegation spots in the Championship.
It takes a bigger man to stand up and say “I was wrong”
Charnley is just a weasel and those words would never leave his lips…he’ll just disappear quietly to run another MASH holdings Company.

Comment #7I think you’re on to something there gorgy mate@2. Let’s give him more time to work his magic. He hasn’t even gotten the brolly out yet. This is no time to panic. We can panic with 3 matches left. That’s plenty of time to do something surely.

Sadly so mate…sadly so… all under the ownership of a man that really doesn’t care about the club because if he did really care about the club he’d have appointed someone on big bucks with premiership experience to run the club and whoever that would have been would never have appointed a failed championship manager to run NUFC.
He’ll be paying top notch money for the managers of business’ he cares about that’s for sure

Comment #10Let’s be honest lads, Ashley has his faults, but he put 70+ mill in to transfers this year. Carr, Charnley and McClaren have ballsed this up! Those 3 identified the targets and paid for the flops we have. Only Shelvey and Wiji are the only signings that are worth anything. Look at Watford, Leicester or West Ham. They spent less and progressed this season! Christ look at Bournemouth! They spent a fraction of what we have and they are pretty secure for premier league football next season. For all his faults, at least Ashley put his money where he promised. The other 3 have not delivered! Get rid of them now and we might just survive!

I’m so sorry
Real Sociedad de Fútbol, S.A.D., more commonly referred to as Real Sociedad or La Real, is a Spanish football club based in the city of San Sebastián, Basque Country,
The Basques and Catalans speak different languages and have no connection other than both being shat on by Franco

Comment #13Time for a poll lads. If you were to replace McClaren who would you get?
I can think of:
1) Rodgers
2) Moyes
3) Pearson

You give Charnley too much credit…He won’t even have got to the point of realising it might be time to make a change never mind thinking of who they can get in to replace him.

Comment #15Magpie Myles @13 – I would go for Pearson simply because I don’t think the other two have experience of a relegation scrap.

For the first minute
After that bloody shambles – most of the team were a embarrassment to walk onto the turf at ST James’ never mind pulling a Black ‘n’ white shirt on.
Only Shelvey and Lascalles and Perez second half can take a little bit of the credit

Comment #18how many of our players(in or around the first team) would realistically want to stay newcastle if we are relegated…not that the club make them an offer…
keepers…elliot and darlow?
defenders…mbabu colo taylor lascelles dummet, haidara sterry gibson?
midfield…anita colback saivet?
strikers….riviere,cisse,armstrong…perez maybe?….for starters…who else?

Comment #19If the manager cannot get the squad to play their positions, and plays those who do not have the mind or balls to do their job, then that manager has to go.
Myles is right, the talent is there, it has not been marshaled to its best use.

Comment #21we need an attack minded manager to win our way out of relegation because playing defensively to stay up wouldn’t work with the muppets we have in the team.
It’s Rafa for me…he was clueless at defending especially with the zonal defending sh!te…but great going forward.

Comment #23Jib Jibberish – we certainly do not need any input from you about foreign languages – you clearly do not have any meaningful base about languages to offer any opinions – indeed I’ve had to cane you a couple of times as a result of your ineptitude.

Cheers, I’m honestly not sure, all I can think of is that he has promised to give McClaren time. But enough is enough now, he needs to step in. If not for the fans then do it for the bloody revenue, but make sure the club stays up.

Comment #26The manager isn’t responsible for supposedly top flight professional footballers strolling about like an over-60’s rambling club and failing to string more than three passes together. He doesn’t help, but he doesn’t step on the pitch either.

Comment #27Whilst I do not particularly like the bloke – I would offer a short term/big money contract to Pearson. He would frighten the crap out of our mamby pamby players. A few would get their thoats gripped.

Comment #28When people refer to McClaren having no input to players bought by NUFC , it reminds me of a great comment by Manuel Pellegrini and his time at Madrid when he fell foul of their Galacticos policy.
He compared it to an orchestra.
He said
“It’s OK to have the 10 best guitarists in the world but sometimes a piece of music needs a violin or saxophone “

Comment #29”Owner Mike Ashley does not want to miss out on next season’s bumper TV deal and he will be asking managing director Lee Charnley to deal with the unfolding crisis.”
Talk about the blind leading the blind, asking the clown who brought us Carver and begged SM to come to SJP 3 times!!

yes ash has finally put money in after the horse has bolted, but he put it in the hands of a glorified teaboy, an over promoted pensioner and failed championship manager, so no sympathy.
No more Brits (except Howe!)

Comment #32I hope it’s not Moyes. he’s another with dour football and wouldn’t be to work with Carrs type of player. Moyes idea of football is 4-5-1 with 5 defensive midfielders in midfield and one defensive midfielder upfront!
mcclaren was my last choice last time round, and moyes was my 2nd last choice. infact all brit managers bar Rodgers and howe are of abnormally low intelligence.

Comment #33I was really hoping that the tw@t would admit defeat, show some dignity and resign after that farce.
Now its up to the tw@t in charge to fire him, but im not confident that he will. We all knew, and said, he should have gone after the chelsea game.
Now we have lost 6 points and wont get any more if he remains.
SACK HIM NOW FFS

Comment #35At the end of the game the fans weren’t angry, were more like having a laugh at our demise and how pathetic we were today -resigned to the fact we are Sh*te and we will be playing championship football next season – and play like we did today we will struggle to stay in that division.
Ashley needs to sack McClown along with Charmless and Carr tonight
Who would I go for anyone at the moment
Maybe Rogers along with Shearer to kick arses – looked best of buddies on MOTD the other week – anything but this loser we have at the minute
