We will assume Andros Townsend is out today along with Cheick Tiote, Chancel Mbemba and Fab Coloccini for a game that Newcastle must win if we are to have any chance of saving ourselves this season from another relegation, which would be the second one in seven years.
It just shows you the problems at the club when Andros Townsend, one of our top signings last month, has picked up a hamstring injury in training just before the Stoke game.
Andros missed the game on Wednesday night and will likely miss this game today – so what do they do in training to pick up all these injuries?
Seydou Doumbia – give him a start
Steve McClaren yesterday said they were looking into the injury problem, which has been a problem at Newcastle for at least ten years.
McClaren said that Yoan Gouffran is unlikely to play today because we want to win this game – presumably we didn´t want to win at Stoke (?) – so we expect Ayoze Perez or Rolando Aarons to come in on the left wing.
And since we need goals and we liked the look of Seydou Doumbia on Wednesday night for the few minutes he was on and nearly scored in stoppage time – we´ll take a chance at starting him today, although we doubt McClaren will.
So here´s the side that could start and today and get us all 3 points against Bournemouth today with Jonjo Shelvey again the captain:
Elliot
Janmaat Taylor Lascelles Dummett
Sissoko Colback Shelvey (c) Perez
Wijnaldum
Doumbia
Subs: Darlow Sterry Saivet de Jong Aarons Gouffran Mitrovic
What would your team be for today?

Where’s Tiote?
Charnley’s probably sold him and he’ll be in China.

Comment #84I’m sure ‘arry Rednapp wouldn’t turn his nose up at say a million plus £10m if we avoid relegation.

Comment #85Not long now ’till we know the team for today. If Sissoko is in the starting 11 I’ll be furious.

Comment #86How do u people feel lascelles is performing lately?AND don’t u feel that ELLIOT should stop uselessly pumping those long balls upfield as everytime there is no one who can efficiently deal with those balls inviting unnecessarry pressure on oue defense.

Comment #89Anyone suggesting we should bring in Redknapp is completely out of touch. He didn’t want to come to us when he was relevant and was content with his life on the south coast so why would he want to come now? Aside from a fat paycheck.
We should have sacked McLaren before the 18 day break and brought in either Moyes or Rogers who both would be out to prove something. Other than that Rafa would be a good choice, he’s a winner.

Comment #90Blackley- I am a fan of Paul Joannou our history is safe in his hands.
I do though recall games I’ve seen in person as you clearly do. Hope you’re in good voice. I didn’t have you down as someone who goes missing when the chips are down.

Comment #91Rivière starting is probably the final nail in his coffin. He couldn’t buy a goal. Looks like desperation to me.
