News filtering through that Newcastle are almost certain to cancel the press conference that is scheduled for tomorrow for the game against Leicester City on Monday night.
Newcastle continue to dither around and Steve McClaren turned up for the second day running to take the training today, but this move by Newcastle almost certainly means his time is up on Tyneside.
It’s just that nobody from the club has told him that yet.
Steve McClaren – arriving for training today in his Audi
We understand Newcastle will postpone tomorrow’s scheduled news conference amidst uncertainty over who will be in charge of the team.

Newcastle are talking to Rafa Benitez’ representatives, but things are going slowly and the Chronicle is reporting that Rafa may not wait around too much longer if Newcastle cannot move more quickly to get a 10 game deal struck for him to take over through the end of the season.
Don’t forget Rafa has worked for the big boys like Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid and is not used to dealing with incompetent people who don’t know what they want – and often don’t even know what they are doing.
That could be a disadvantage to Newcastle.
🙂
This is now the fourth day since we were humiliated by Bournemouth – how long do this lot need to get things done – or even to make a decision?
It’s appalling.

Comment #43Leicester won’t be the massacre everyone thinks…we’ll go down there and park the bus so Vardy and Go can’t run in behind the defence…we just have to make sure we don’t get sucked up the pitch and get caught out.
4-5-1 with only 10 yards between the rearguard and the midfield and the rearguard on the 18 yard box!
Don’t think I’ll bother going to the match because it’ll be awful to watch but that’s what’s gonna happen

Comment #44the last time i saw newcastle was when i lived in leicester funnily enough.
we were playing in our banana and custard away kit and the most exciting moment was seeing Jonas warming up on the touchline.
It was a 0-0 snore draw. I’d take that this weekend in a heartbeat!

Comment #48Don’t want to pop anyone’s balloon but who are we believing that Rafa maybe our next manager. As far as I can see it’s all media speculation nothing else. Along with all the other possibilities ie. Moyes, Rodgers etc. I have a horrible feeling that McLaren will be given more time.
Sorry all

Comment #50He’s as good as gone, tomorrows routine press conference cancelled and he’s meeting with penfold this afternoon.
If he was going to keep his job why would they cancel his press conference.
After his meeting we should expect to hear that McClaren has been sacked by NUFC

I agree, but it would be quite idiotic and pointless even for them to cancel the scheduled press conference and then not fire him before Mondays game. Can’t see the reasoning behind that. They can’t hide him from the media forever. He’s going to have face the media at some point. What’s the point of hiding him if they’re going to back him. It’ll just make things worse from a PR stand up and delve the club into more chaos. Even for them that would be astronomically short sighted

Comment #58Now it’s reported that charnly is using a company as an intermediate to deal with finding a manager. Hope it’s not the same company that deals with the players we purchase. Strewth can’t the board make a decision for themselves.. Toasers the lot of them.

Comment #60And why does McClaren even bother showing up for training? 2 days in a row. I would have called in sick today or called penfold and ask what they hell is going on.
Him showing up for training just shows he has no pride or is just plain stupid and clueless

just found out what the problem is with McClaren leaving Charnley will not sign the compensation deal off to sack McClaren as the stationary package he was issued with when he joined is now 2 paper clips short a club spokesperson said a full investigation will now take place to find these valuable items we shall not rest till we get to the bottom of this matter all other matters have been put to one side so we can give this matter are full attention

Comment #65On the vexed subject of biscuits for tea I hate to spoil the fun but there has been a shortage of Custard Creams every since Carr’s factory (McVities) in Carlisle was flooded out before christmas.
However I am sure that Charnley will have sourced a cheaper less appealing ( typical of the Board ) alternative – “Jammy Dodgers” I suspect – it just seems more appropriate given who we are talking about.
