Here are some selected tweets from Newcastle fans on the possible firing of Steve McClaren this afternoon by Lee Charnley, which would be astonishing if only because of the speed with which it has been carried out.
Question – would this qualify as a knee-jerk reaction?
And the possible arrival of Rafa Benitez as the new Newcastle manager, which would also be astonishing.
Steve McClaren and Rafa Benitez – a contrast
How RAFA!! Sos about calling you a “Fat Spanish Waiter” we didnt mean it. #nufc

I’d be amazed if he isn’t let go during this meeting. Still, it would be very #NUFC to hand him a vote of confidence https://t.co/Izt00xeFiF

Comment #42If and I mean If and its a big IF…. Benitez turns up on our doorstep then who are his closest allies as number 2 / Coaches / assistants ?
Maybe room for Gerrard to take his first coaching role next season – ex Liverpool pals and heading back to the UK from NFL ? He wouldn’t take any prisoners, hates loosing and hates southern and Manchester clubs so that would be a good start.
Stranger things have happened – maybe McClaren, Carr and Moncur are sacking Charley as we speak.

When we’re relegated and we will be, the better player’s we have now will be gone but we’ll still have the flops, you can count on that.

Comment #56Stu I think the board has no intention whatsoever of replacing McClaren until that shambles on Saturday. Basically been backed into a corner.
Would have replaced him during the 18 day break if they really new what they were doing.

The point I was making is that every single sign of his past has shown us that cashley doesn’t appoint decent managers and the one decent manager he did appoint walked out right away.
We all know pardue was only appointed because of the puppet. Had we never seen him appointed you wouldn’t have been following him one bit and if you had the sense to know just how crap the new arrival would be you’d have taken his game with ease and just demand cashley himself leaves.
asking a toon fan to make an apology when (if) rafa gets appointed is like giving ashley an apology for the abuse given in the past.
LR 32 was another blogger well known to heavily critise pardew during his time as manager but he hardly mentions pardues current form at all. He and mag 52 even managed to get into a netrual agreement in the sense that whilst pardew is a crap manager he does no worse than what they expect with most managers.
billy davies and paul jewell were manager at the time of derbies lowest PL point season nothing is ever said about him.
Mick McCarthy had a terrible time at sunderland nothing is mentioned about him
roeder had a terrible time at newcastle nothing is ever mentioned about him
lambsarse left a few years ago why do you never bring up facts about his current state
JFK was a disgrace why do you not bring up news on him?

H’s doing nothing more than have a laugh and make a long comment more simple.
lots of people have been stating rafa would never come here and based on history that would appear to be the case.
If rafa does arrive this blog will be stunned to bits. It’ll feel as though we’re living in dream land. you’ll be able to tell from his general amazement that he’s stunned and feels apologetic about things.
Until that day does come it sound as though your in lala land or as most would say dream land.
