Rafa Benitez Would Be Extremely Popular Signing With Fans

9:03 am, Thursday, March 10th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 16 Comments

It´s not that often that Newcastle do something that the fans want to happen, but if the club signs Rafa Benitez as the manager through the end of the season  – he is the fans’ number one choice for the manager position  according to our poll – with over 14,000 fans having voted.

Rafa Benitez – fans’ choice

There have been reports this week that Mike Ashley wanted a signing that would excite Newcastle fans and therefore help us survive relegation.

If we get Rafa in that will happen – the excitement bit – but it´s still going to be touch and go whether we are relegated this season – even with Rafa in charge.

The Board have screwed up (what again?) and have left it too late.

what’s done is done best thing to now is look forward hope he comes in today and gets started sorting who else is going and who he’s bring in he’s going to need help and people he trust around him if he’s to have any chance of keeping us up

I still think Mr Bean should have been on that list, he would have definitely been the better option for this club.

Please let this be true, he wouldnt have been my first choice, mainly because I doubt MAs regime have the clout to sign a man like Rafa. I regret the fat Spanish Waiter chant now.

Just hope he doesn’t do a KEVIN KEEGAN after just a couple of matches though.

i think most of us on here could have done better
but in december we beat the likes of spurs and fool that got him to jan we bought who he wanted and that bought him more time

while it is late there is still 30 points to play for and we have to play the 3 teams round us as well

Reports in Spain of Rafa signing a 3 year deal may not be entirely inaccurate – just the understanding of the detail. Perhaps a short term contract to the end of the season and if or when we stay up then he has a 3 year deal.

How did Charnley ever award McClaren an 8 year deal ? Incredible if it was ever true.

Maybe something has been lost in translation, and it’s 3 months, not years.

I have to say I’m a little excited about Benitez, he could be just what we need, and if his coming forces changes in the running of our club so much the better.

I assume by do a Kevin Keegan u mean become ingrained into NUFC history by being incredible for this club…in which case if he can do that in a couple of matches I hope that does happen

Am still not confident of this being pulled off though and equally not confident he will keep us up

If anyone can remember, I posted a tactical analysis link about Benitez maybe two or three years ago.

I don’t know if this is the same one, but it is similar – I think it’s the same site – and an interesting enough read.

His teams are deemed cautious, but there’s a difference in being cautious while sitting back not knowing what you’re doing, and having a structured plan of attack with a proven track record of succeeding.
