Benitez Could Cut These 12 Players In The Summer

If ever there was a time to have a clear-out of the Newcastle squad it’s this summer and that’s whether we stay up in the Premier League or go down to the Championship.

If we stay up then some of our mediocre players will be in danger of being cut by Rafa Benitez, who will look to bring in a number of new players with the help of Mike Ashley – who will be willing to pay out more big bucks for a third successive transfer window.

And with Rafa as the manager, good players will want to stay at Newcastle and others will want to come to Newcastle for what promises to be major Rafa revolution at the club.

fabricio coloccini

Fab Coloccini – a good time to leave after 8 years on Tyneside

Here are twelve players who could be cut – starting with the most obvious ones first.

  • Remy Cabella – will move to Marseille
  • Sylvain Marveaux – end of contract
  • Gabby Obertan – end of contract
  • Yoan Gouffran – not good enough
  • Sadio Haidara – he’s never fit
  • Steven Taylor – never fit and end of contract
  • Manu Riviere – not good enough
  • Siem de Jong – never made it on Tyneside
  • Fab Coloccini – good time for the captain to leave
  • Florian Thauvin – doesn’t have the heart
  • Cheick Tiote – will get that move to China
  • Papiss Cisse – well move to China

There may be a little hope for Florian and he will probably get a chance in pre-season, but the way he left the club in January when we were struggling so much – shows he’s not up for the fight when things get tough.

Who would you let go this summer?

It will be an exciting time in the summer if we stay up.

We must stay up.

I think, and hope, Siem comes good as he is a very good player and hopefully Raffa will get the best out of him (or play him would be a start)

At least we should see some intelligent substitutions.

Reasonable list Ed. Hopefully we can add colback and Anita and even our perennial squad unbalancer and misshape Sissoko some time later when we can get more fitting squad members.

Feel sorry for Haidara, physically and mentally undone by that little Wigan hooligan.

I always like the ‘inflatable Fab’ picture. Not sure what action he is performing. Trying to put his boot on without hands perhaps?

Did we ever get a ‘you what? I’m sacked?’ McLaren picture? I must have missed it. 🙂

there was no picture as he chose to be sacked over the phone and probably hasn’t gone out the house since.

Tsunki, correct, and the little hooligan was widely defended by his horrible overrated manager, now at Everton, and by the horrible Wigan owner. Bunch of scumbags the lot of them.

McLaren’s not hiding away looks like he’s one of the favorites for the Boro job

Thats a huge squad clearout, but very needed. Rafa will fill it with Spaniards, which is fine to a point with me, as its a really good league.

I would chuck em all out ASAP. Perhaps I would hold on to De Jong and maybe Haidara. All the rest can F Off. Not good enough and/or always injured.

Pardew in the semi. Imagine how Catchy will feel seeing his big sparkly grin and crisp white shirt strolling about wembley. In fairness, not a nice prospect. I see the journo on Sunday Supplement said he did a “good job” at NUFC. I would say he was average/possibly below average as he was v lucky that Swansea beat Wigan when we were in freefall. Anyway, its great to now have a manager we can unite behind.

Wigan owner and martinez both roundly defended Hong-Kong McManaman, saying things like “its not like him it in purpose”. Even though there were already several similar incidents and one or two since, i believe.

Anita and Riviere would be top of my list! But for now, I don’t want to push anyone out until they have done the absolute best they can in the next 10 games. It says a lot about the under-investment in the club over the last several seasons that there are SO MANY players who we would not keep…
