Former Newcastle Great – We Deserved A Draw

8:29 am, Tuesday, March 15th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 6 Comments

Former Newcastle great Faustino Asprilla was pleased with the performance of Newcastle last night if not the result in Benitez’ first game in charge of Newcastle – and thinks we should have got a point.

he also thinks what a lot of fans are thinking – Doumbia could be worth a shot up front – excuse the pun.

And even President Obama thought we had played well.

    I’d like to see Doumbia get a longer run out. He took the Stoke chance really well, and it was a great save from Butland.

    He’s like a higher scoring version of Oba.

    respost ,

    Morning Lads

    Felt we deserved a point for our effort and restricted them from getting in behind us and in gereral a solid display and 3 times better than our 3 previous games.

    The confedence of our players are rock buttom at the moment and but the commitment was there so it show there was some progress made in the 3 days that rafa had.

    I think we have seen Gini far more effective in a deeper role tonight and i think he is far better in there where he can look forward than in the 10 position where his back is turned on play. He is a more natural box to box and not an out and out 10. so maybe we can play Siem who is a actual 10 just behind Mitro. With Townsend and Sissoko in the flanks.

    That formattion look hgalf decent in the second half.

    But the most important thing last night was the subs Rafa made. How refresing was it to see some attacking subs made and I actually think we became more and more of a threat. leister was just hanging on and that 5 minutes of time wasting and the ref not doing anything was apalling to see.

    @Beermonkey

    I think Sissoko pereformance in the first half was 3 times better but he faded out of the game in the second half.

    I think we need 6 wins to be safe hope Rafa can workout his magic as he has already shown us what a great manager he is. Howay the Lads

    Be nit will have to bring Armstrong from Coventry, to pair with Dummy. Rivers is hopeless, and Geo Fran.

    Can anybody explain why is Doumbia not getting proper game time? It’s beyond me, why we bring in a dangerous striker and play him in the final 5 minutes.
