This Is The Real Reason Benitez Joined Newcastle

8:48 am, Wednesday, March 16th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 5 Comments

In his interviews yesterday, Moussa Sissoko has said what Rafa Benitez told the first team squad the major reason he had surprisingly agreed to join the Newcastle club.

And it has a lot to do with the players he was talking to – he said he knew that Newcastle had some very good players in the squad and that we could beat the drop.

That´s not a bad way to address  the players for the first time, who will be the ones who have to do the job on the field for Newcastle to save us from relegation, after Steve McClaren´s woeful reign on Tyneside was mercifully brought to an end last week.

Rafa Benitez addressing the players last Friday afternoon

This is what Mousa Sissoko revealed Rafa had said to them late last Friday afternoon when he met them for the first time at the Benton training grounds:

“He said that we have a lot of players of quality in this team, and that we have a good team with some top players and that’s why he came here.”

“He believes we will stay in the Premier League, so that’s good.” “We need to work every game and start to win next Sunday.”

“Yes, of course from the beginning of the season we played well in some of the games.”

“But most of the time we weren’t good for 95 minutes,  but we were consistent for 95 minutes at Leicester, so that’s good and we need to carry it on for the next game.”

Certainly in Monday night´s game at Leicester City we had some very good displays from a number of the Newcastle players, so Rafa was right – and he seems very quickly to be able to bring the best out of our players.

That´s going to be so important if we are to stay as a Premier League club for next season.

    3one fine day // Mar 16, 2016 at 8:50 AM

Weekend is maybe the biggest game in last 30 years for us.
    No pressure then:)
Just a thought if we can sort ourselves out and we stay up at the expense of villa ,mackums and dare I say it pardiolas. First 11 (he is on quite a run let’s be honest so don’t right that off yet!)then other than the utter dross we have had to suffer this season it could actually,on the results side of things anyway,be one of our most satisfying seasons since SBR was in the hot seat.
We can then look forward to amazing things next year and start seeing the club being rebuilt from scratch .
Loose on Sunday however and it’s please turn out the lights as you leave and I shall have Samaritans on speed dial

If Sissoko is talking about Benitez a lot more you can tell he is impressed by him but Sissoko needs to do a lot more personally as a player

That one where he was through on goal and passed it to no one was shocking he should have been hitting that past the keeper 100%

Be interesting to see how Benitez plays it at the weekend Sunderland will sit back and try the ball over the top for Defoe and Borini

Sissoko was our best player according to many pundits and sources, so, maybe that was shocking, but Janmaat should have been more alert and all available players were in the same line. He makes mistakes, yes, he don’t play for Barca remember. We’re looking for the culprit, ok, but there’s plenty out there to point the finger to, before this guy.

Ed, I’m holding my deification for Rafa, if that’s ok, holding the euphoria till: he gets me our first victory; he keeps us up!

In the mean time, start that chart of yours for him, like you did for Carver and Steve. That’s what I’ll be using to judge him. Nothing else.

Sissoko is one of the causes we are 2nd bottom, he is lazy or unfit. He believes he is better than he actually is and performs one game a season. Against Leicester he had the chance to shoot and bottled it, needs to score at least 5 goals a season or drop him. Massaging his ego will only make him think he can play for Real Madrid. I believe there is a decent player in him but not when we are in a relegation battle. Zut alors!!!!
