When Rob Elliot was stretchered off tonight playing for Ireland, the knee injury looked serious and it could even be an ACL injury – like the one Tim Krul picked up playing for the Netherlands in October.
So our two top goalkeepers this season have been crocked playing in Internationals this season and this could be a real problem for Newcastle in our fight for survival as a Premier League side this season.
It’s especially annoying when this Intentional was a friendly – but on the positive side it’s a great chance for young Karl Darlow to show what he can do.
But as we have said and written about over the lass several months Newcastle should have seen this coming and brought in an experienced goalkeeper on loan just in case.
Rob Elliot being stretchered off tonight – it looks bad
Here are some of the tweets sent out by distraught Newcastle fans.
Potentially bad news for Newcastle as keeper Rob Elliot is taken off injured for Republic of Ireland against Slovakia.
