Report – Rob Elliot Out For At Least Six Months

Sky Sports News is reporting that Rob Elliot will be out for at least six months with his knee injury – and if the report is correct it looks like it could be an ACL knee injury – which is what Tim Krul picked up last October playing for the Netherlands.

It’s terrible news for poor Rob – who has been so great for us since last October – and not good news for Newcastle either.

We wish Rob all the best in his recovery and he comes back as good as ever.

Forget Newcastles predicament for a moment, Rob Elliot is probably the only reason we are in with a slim chance of survival anyway – I’m just gutted for the lad as he’s proven to be more than equal to Krul and was in his way to a once in a life time experience playing in the euros for Ireland. Elliot has shown he is a leader, one we’ve needed these last months and I wish him well in his recovery. Poor sod.

    I think I’ll start a conspiracy theory 🙂
Is it a coincidence that the Ireland manager and his assistant just happen to be ex makem managers and they get our only first team keeper crocked?

Just hope it’s not the end of his career.

I fear it could be .

He’s 31on April 30th and might just have the attitude “ah to hell with it”

    Who could blame him

Remember it’s 6 months minimum and a long time out of action at his age , he probably will never regain full fitness to his current level.

It’s Krul’s birthday next month but he’s 3 years younger

Time for Darlow and Woodman to step up to the plate , that’s what we pay them for.
    They’ll be fine.

The crazy thing is Victor Valdes who has been loaned (I think to Standard Liége) by Man U , would have come like a shot to play for Rafa !
