Michael Owen played for Newcastle from 2005 until we were relegated in May, 2009 but during that time due to a number of serious injuries only played 79 times for the Magpies and scored 30 goals and during the run-in under caretaker manager Alan Shearer Michael wasn’t even a starter for the side.
Michael become a fairly successful pundit since he required from the game in the summer of 2013 after going on to play for Manchester United and Stoke after leaving Newcastle.
But even in those four seasons after leaving Newcastle he appeared only 61 times with 18 goals due to injury problems again.
Michael Owen – smile – you’re on candid camera
Michael has predicted the vital 6 points we have at Norwich City on Saturday:\
This is what has said about the game:
The Magpies are unbeaten in the PL against the Canaries winning four of the six games between the sides and I fancy a draw at Carrow Road in this vital game near the foot of the table.
At least one of these clubs is likely to be playing Championship football next term and a point would suit Rafa Benitez more than Alex Neill given the Geordies have lost their last seven PL games on the road.
Michael’s recommendation: 1-1
A draw would be a decent point for us and keep us in the relegation fight – but we really need to win the game which would bring us level on points with Norwich City and we still have a game in hand.
After the injury to Rob Elliot we are redoing the poll for the match – so here’s a chance to vote again.
