Seydou Doumbia In Flaming Row With Coach

There is news coming through that Seydou Doumbia has had a disagreement with the Ivory Coast head coach Michel Dussuyer during the International break and seems to have walked out on the team.

Doumbia did not play against Sudan in Tuesday’s African Cup of Nations qualifier which ended in a 1-1 draw, and did not even travel for the game.

Seydou Doumbia – in Newcastle colors

The striker is on loan at Newcastle from AS Roma until the end of the season, but wasn’t even on the bench in the last game at home to Sunderland.

He has so far made 3 substitute appearances for Newcastle, but it seems unlikely he will fit into Rafa Benitez’ plans for the rest of the season at Newcastle, with all our permanent strikers now being fit for the first time this season.

In the first game of the International break on Friday night against Sudan at home, Seydou was an unused substitute in  Ivory Coast’s 1-0 win over Sudan in Abidjan but then had the flaming row with the head coach and disappeared.

He should be back training with Newcastle today, although his whereabouts were unknown on Tuesday night.

Seydou is said to have disagreed with the team selection of coach Michel Dussuyer during some heated exchanges.

Two bits of good news for us with the Valencia sacking
They would have hung onto Neville if there was any chance of getting Rafa next season
Pako Ayesteran will likely join Rafa at the Toon

I’m not complaining about Benitez but I’d have loved Sampaoli. He would have been my first choice alongside Biesla. He’d be the next Pochettino.

Dombia didn’t disagree with Dussuyer’s team selection he questioned his credentials and he has a point.
Michel Dussuyer spent most of his playing career as a second choice goalie at French amateur club Cannes.
Apart from coaching in Africa his only time in Europe was managing Cannes and he didn’t last a year.
The problem with only having African experience is a lot of African national players are recalled from European clubs which have much better coaches.

Can’t see a row happening between Doumbia and Rafa. Unlikely that Rafa would waste his time and energy even speaking to him, let alone arguing.

Goldmbemba – no, Ed is absolutely not above writing clickbait headlines, but it’s his site and he needs the hits to make money.

At least with this headline it’s technically true, Doumbia did have a row with his coach. It just wasn’t Rafa, which is what most of us would immediately assume.
