Is This Newcastle’s Best Team For Norwich?

8:47 am, Friday, April 1st, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 9 Comments

It seems that only Daryl Janmaat will be fit for the game tomorrow at Carrow Road and Fabricio Coloccini is still not recovered from the calf injury he picked up during the warm weather holiday in La Manga following the 5-1 humiliation at Chelsea.

So Rafa Benitez is again limited in his choice for the team at the Canaries, so we have to hope some of our players come back soon – with the treatment room at Benton again full to overflowing.

Cheick Tiote – could play tomorrow

It looks like Rafa will again rely on the more experienced players tomorrow and this could be the team he starts against the 4th bottom side.

Darlow
Janmaat Mbemba Lascelles Sissoko
Wijnaldum Shelvey (c) Tiote Townsend
de Jong
Mitrovic
Subs: Woodman Taylor Anita Saivet Perez Obertan Cisse

Not making the bench tomorrow are players like Doumbia and Riviere and there’s a chance that Rafa could start either Perez or Cisse.

Jack Colback starts the first game of his two game suspension and Jonjo Shelvey has nine yellow cards for the season and if he gets booked tomorrow he’s out for two games.

Wijnaldum is too much of a threat up front to be wasted in central midfield,  so we have him on the wing and think that Rafa may bring in the experienced Cheick Tiote to partner Jonjo Shelvey in central midfield.

We are assuming Cheick is fit again, but if not then both Henri Saivet and Vurnon Anita can also do that particular job.

Gabby Obertan could also make the bench if he’s been impressive in training.

What would your team be for tomorrow?

Drop Wijnaldum and play Obertan. What’s happened to Saviet? Why not give him a go?

Colo’s absence is no great loss to us right now. He used to be a canny player, but generally in recent times when he was fit he was out of form, slow / hesitant and prone to no less errors than the others.

    morning all
it looks like rafa prefers the 4-2-3-1 formation, and looking at the players available can only see anita or gibson playing leftback…sissoko was getting a big talk up by rafa last week i believe so i’d expect him in a forward position….i maybe wrong but i doubt he would used at left back from the start of a game.

From the Chron just a few days ago Toite and Cisse described as being bang at it in training.
    Now Toite is injured ?
Saivet, from what I’ve seen of him he can’t play CM.
Can’t even track a run from another midfielder.
Watch Everton away just before he got the hook.

Rafa’s press conference might clarify things a bit.
