Rafa Benitez has just announced the team for the game at Carrow Road this afternoon against 4th bottom Norwich City and Rafa has made some changes – in fact five changes in all.

Steven Taylor comes in for Lascelles and Anita starts at left back – with Cheick Tiote and Papiss Cisse also both in the starting line-up.

Karl Darlow replaces Rob Elliot in goal.

Newcastle (4-2-3-1): Karl Darlow; Daryl Janmaat, Chancel Mbemba, Steven Taylor, Vurnon Anita; Cheick Tiote, Jonjo Shelvey (c); Andros Townsend, Georginio Wijnaldum, Moussa Sissoko; Papiss Cisse
Substitutes: Freddie Woodman, Jamie Sterry, Jamaal Lascelles, Siem de Jong, Ayoze Perez, Emmanuel Riviere, Aleksandar Mitrovic

Referee: Mike Dean

It’s Rafa’s familiar 4-2-3-1 formation and let’s hope Papiss Cisse is in goal-scoring form today – he can certainly hit the net when he’s in the mood – and Cheick Tiote will provide some steel in central midfield.

It looks like Gini Wijnaldum will play in the number 10 position behind Papiss Cisse and Rafa has again gone for experience over youth to try to win this game today at Carrow Road.

It’s a surprise that Mitrovic is on the bench, but maybe that has something to do with him being away on International duty?

This is what Rafa Benitez has said about the game today:

“We know we can do it,” “The reaction of the team after Sunderland was really positive and we have the right mentality to go to Norwich and win.”

“We’re giving the players confidence and trying to organize them so that they know what to do in these games.”

“In terms of commitment, the players have been fantastic and we have to make sure we approach the game with confidence so that we are prepared to win.”

“Norwich are an intense team,” “We have to concentrate and make sure we don’t make any mistakes because this game is so important for both teams.”

“Norwich are organised and they have a lot of players who know their jobs and their work rate is good. We will have to work hard from the first minute to the last.”

“I have had relegation experiences before in Spain with Extremadura so I know what it is like. We have to give everything in every game and I will not give up.”

“People are saying this game is a must win – we go there to win but we cannot lose focus on the remaining seven games because they are just as important.”

“We cannot lose confidence, we have to concentrate on one game at a time and keep going right until the end.”

Three fans in five think we can win this game today.
