Norwich 3 Newcastle 2 – Video Highlights

9:54 am, Sunday, April 3rd, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 10 Comments

Here are the video highlights of yesterday’s game where Norwich won 3-2 with a stoppage time goal and notice for their first goal how Benitez complains that the one minute added time had already past before the Norwich goal.

Darlow should probably have come for the cross too – if only to punch the ball away.

I don’t like McClaren and never wanted him here but I got to say McClaren would of probably won against Sunderland and Norwich!

    Nezza nufc,
    How do work that out?
What would Maclaren have done differently in your opinion?

    One

Dominated them like the first games, Sunderland had a 12th man on the field for them whilst Norwich got destroyed.

What did Rafa offer during these two games?

Two boring games with luck against Sunderland to nip a draw and in truth against Norwich it should of been 3-0 before the second half and probably 5-0 by full time.

Didn’t I hear that Rafa was very good at organising the defence? 2 defenders though? Why not 3 at the back as many have been saying?

Formations is not the reason we can’t win any games, we have a multitude of sub par players at this club. We get an injury and have no one to come in. Out or the back 4 yesterday, janmaat can’t defend, mbemba had a bad game, Taylor is sh1te and Anita is a midfielder. U aren’t gonna defend well with players like that. We are suffering for lack of investment in the defence which everyone has been asking for for the last 5 years

I’ve said a few times before pardew was terrible but he somehow managed a 6 game win streak each season which would ultimately give us enough points not to get relegated.

With mcclaren too many times one game wed actually play well but fail to get the result think the Chelsea 2-2 game and the Sunderland game before collo is sent off, under mcclaren a run of wins simply never happened and the truth is he should of been sacked way back October albeit benitez wouldn’t had been available at that time but holding on too mcclaren killed us.

Each week wed lose and he comes out smiling grinning just didn’t make any sense but the underlying fact is who in their right mind appoints a failed championship manager when your supposed to be an established epl side.

Mcclaren goal was the same as pardew simply keep us in the prem and everyone is happy the whole top 8 and trophies was an illusion. So January approaches and alarm bells are ringing and funds are used to attempt to save us the one goal of not to come in the bottom 3 was looking dodgy, and after no improvement benitez is brought in but at this point were clutching at straws.

A premier league club which exists to survive has no place in this league we are an absolute disgrace to teams like Leicester who despite all their shortcomings play everything single match with a we will go out there and give our all mentality and actually try to win. Newcastle United a team that’s scared of securing European football cause that means we actually have to spend some money by buying additional players.

A football club needs to set goals and slowly work towards them and naturally progress up the league and attempt to secure some trophies on the way, Newcastle players are happy just to get mid table to secure the bonus this football club has a let’s win some games but not too many eh don’t want that nasty European football do we don’t want to show the fans were too ambitious they might demand we buy some players, we finished 5th and signed ONE PLAYER IN ANITA.

9 years under Ashley has equalled basically 2 relegations we won’t come back up cause we don’t have Barton Nolan Carroll even lovenkrands was decent, but one player I really liked in our last championship spell was Alan Smith past his best but gave 100% that team under Chris Houghton would not be relegated that team doesn’t lose to Sunderland, the reason chrisy got sacked was cause he couldn’t accept we wanted to simply exist and not thrive and progress, Newcastle United is a broken football club which needs saving before we’re lost forever in the football league only a new owner can change our fortunes this summer window will define us for the next 10-15 years.

    Sorry for long post

See your point but I think we have to admit both Norwich and Sunderland have improved dramatically since the first time we played both this season.
The confidence seems at an all time low ,other than mitrovic ,right now.
In the derby do you think mac would have thrown on as many strikers as the laws allow to have a go and be proactive ?
It got us a point and took two off Sunderland which still may count for something on the last day.
It’s been said here so much but under mac we were Certs for the drop Rafa has come in and is trying everything to sort things but has zero time,my only criticism of him so far was cisse in for mitrovic but bringing him off the bench almost actually worked and had we nicked a point or even a winner we would be saying Rafa was a genius.

We simply have two many players who don’t give a Sh@t .
Sadly starting to have that 2009 feel again for duff,Owen and viduka read sissoko ,cisse tiote.

The first half we were very poor and the blame rests entirely with Benetez. He selected the players and he determined the tactics. There is no way that eleven players decide to totally ignore their manager’s instructions.

The second half we were very good and the stats for the game confirm this. Benetez takes credit for this as he made the substitutes and changed the tactics but alas he can’t do much for individual mistakes.

On paper under the current circumstances Tiote, Cisse and Anita looked the right choice supported by many on this blog but Benetez clearly saw that Anita was being run ragged and was often found missing from the left back position. Additionally he provided little attacking movement. Same with Tiote who was very static and didn’t really compliment Shelvey who was too deep. In the second half Shelvey played higher up the field and had a greater impact as it was easier to find players. Sissoko provided the attacking threat down the left that was missing in the first half. Janmaat also played higher up the field.

The puzzle for me is why is De Jomg not selected. It’s the complete opposite of Ameobi who was always selected irrespective of manager. De Jong is never selected irrespective of manager.

McClaren wouldn’t have done much differently, and there’s the problem. Rafa has come in and seemingly thought his presence alone would be enough to right this sinking ship. Unfortunately not. As soon as I saw the team he picked yesterday it set alarm bells ringing. Too much of the same. Rafa, you are a good coach but not Superman. Those players you selected are serial offenders, set in their ways. Failure is their default setting. You needed to be brave, make sweeping changes. You didn’t, and it went according to the script. You came in to a tough job, as we all know, and perhaps there were unrealistic expectations of what you could achieve. Well, I think we can safely say that there is very little expectation now. Like most supporters around the world, I can say that as of now I have become comfortably numb.
