Both Paul Dummett and Fabricio Coloccini returned to training this week, but both are still doubtful for the game tomorrow, although it looks like Fabricio could make the game.
Paul Dummett is more doubtful, but the local lad will probably return a week tomorrow against Swansea City at home.
Fabricio Coloccini – could play tomorrow
Within the last week we have gone from eleven injured players to just six injured players according to Physioroomn.com – and two of them are (still) Coloccini and Dummett.
And it’s good news that Curtis Good is finally off the injured list and he played for the U21 side in the 5-3 defeat at the Liberty Stadium earlier this week.
Curtis was injured on March 5th two years ago when he made his debut for Australia against Ecuador when he had an excellent game before being withdrawn with his injured hip in the second half.
Here’s the injury status according to Physioroom.com.
Player Injury Return Date R Elliott ACL Knee no return date P Dummett Hamstring 16th Apr F Coloccini Calf/Shin 9th Apr K Mbabu Hip/Thigh 19th Apr M Haidara Knee no return date T Krul ACL Knee 16th July
Newcastle’s Football Development manager Peter Beardsley talked about Curtis Good coming back:
“It’s nice to see Curtis is back. “I can’t imagine what he’s been through, because I’ve never had any injuries of that magnitude and never really had a bad injury.”
“I can’t understand what he’s going through, and I try to help him, but you almost don’t know what to say. “He’s had two years, and then he’s hurt his calf, and it’s been so frustrating for him.”
All being well that injury status could be down to only four players injured by next week, with Coloccini and Dummett both back playing again – and of course we have to remember our two goalkeepers are long term absentees.
It’s good news on the injury front for a change.
Wonder what Rafa has implemented in training to get the number of injuries down?
Comments welcome.

i’d like to see 2 up top against southampton, maybe even go 3-5-2,doubt it will happen as that would mean playing all our cb’s and if theres an injury we’d be screwed.

Comment #43Is it possible that our top ‘stars’ like Sissoko, Wijnaldum and Jaanmat have relegation clauses which allow them to leave for next to nothing should we be relegated. Far fetched? That’s how we snaffled Demba Ba!

they probably have a release price agreed if relegated so they cant be over priced out of a move…just a thought like,no info.

Comment #47If Beardsley’s Football Development Manager, Ashley’s reported review of the Club’s operations should see a major change in that area too.
Ok, he’s a local lad but local loyalties should go out of the window in his case along with Joe Joyce.
But a key question is whether the youth scouting system is up to scratch. Is that Carr’s department too?
In any event, Charnley’s been MD for a couple of years now and youth recruitment and development’s another failure of his watch.

In Welshy boyo’s part of the world, they’ve just installed gas into their quaint but simple cottages. At least the sheep’ll be warm now.

It would just show you up for who you really are since I have questioned you without any direct criticism.
If you can’t take being questioned on a footy blog, especially without slipping into insult mode, you’d be better off elsewhere. So would we.
