Newcastle Players Disgrace The Name Of Newcastle United

5:37 pm, Saturday, April 9th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 14 Comments

If there was any doubt that Newcastle are a relegation side then this was it with the defense looking absolutely awful and we have now conceded 62 goals in 32 league games and will surely now be relegated.

On this display we fully deserve to go down and our players bottled it – they don’t have the guts necessary to save the club from relegation.

We were hoping for a win or a draw in this game, but we got nowhere close and the Saints were better in everything they did and were 3-0 up after 59 minutes and eased off.

That allowed Andros Townsend to blast home a glorious goal for Newcastle after 65 minutes but of course it was too little too late and another calamitous performance by a Newcastle side.

Steve Taylor had an awful game and was hauled off at half time and that could be his last performance ever for his home town club.

shane long

Shane Long – beat three Newcastle players before scoring

Southampton scored after only four minutes when Shane Long went past three Newcastle players before shooting home with his left foot – and the Newcastle defenders were simply looking around at each other.

It was disgraceful defending from Newcastle and he went past Steven Taylor as if the local lad wasn’t even there – Steven seems to have no mobility these days..

After 38 minutes after they had been well on top the Saints went further ahead through Pelle when the ball was played passed Janmaat down the left wing and then it went free to Pelle in the box and he rifled the ball home as more schoolboy defending from Newcastle.

Janmaat went off injured after the goal and on came Siem de Jong.

It was 2-0 at the half and it could have been more and a shambolic display from these Newcastle players who are mentally weak and showed Newcastle up today – they have no bottle these overpaid prima donnas.

At the break on came Jamaal Lascelles and it looks like Taylor was hauled off and we would loved to have heard what Rafa said at the half – what a shambles Newcastle looked.

After 55 minutes the Newcastle team was still asleep as the Saints took a short corner which caught Newcastle off guard and after Darlow saved well from Mane it was Wanyama who put the ball past Darlow.

Newcastle came back as the Saints eased off and it was a brilliant goal from Andros Townsend after 65 minutes but the damage was done and certainly the worst performance by a country mile by this Newcastle team under Rafa Benitez who must be furious with his players.

That’s 10 games on the trot we have lost away from home including the FA Cup 3rd round game at Watford and it’s the sixth defeat in seven league games for Newcastle.

We are afraid this lot are just past redemption and for the money these players are paid they were a disgrace today.

A disgrace to the club and we will almost certainly be relegated soon – and we deserve to go down.

It’s a pity we didn’t bring some good defenders in with the £82M we spent this season but if this form isn’t turned around we could be struggling next season in the Championship – the players we have are not tough enough mentally.

We don’t know what we need in terms of wins to stay up – but we will not get them with the mentally weak players we have in this team.

This display was a disgrace to the name of Newcastle United Football Club.

Look until Benitez came on board I had accepted we were getting relegated, I’d come to terms with it. We had a few weeks of hope and now it’s back to planning for the championship. You can’t expect to be part of the best league in the world if you have no defenders and no strikers. Everyone is to blame, the whole lot of them players, coaches, board, scouts, owners they’re all phish!

Steven Taylor reminds me of the Angel of the North.

Rusty ppiece of metal – Arms out wide and doesn’t F**n move

One out of twelve for Benitez, we can only get better, we are laughing stocks yet again, Charlie Nick on sky saying we are the worst prem team he has seen, Fred Karno FC.

Preparation for the championship needs to start NOW and if Ashley wants to stay on (I don’t know why on earth he’d want to when he knows himself he’s ruined this club and that he’s acted too late, surely he must be tired and sick of this) he needs to start preparing by getting rid of charnley, Carr and moncur they’ve been nothing but trouble for this club and surely he can set see that he’s wasted so much money due to their decisions.

Players I’d keep for next season:
    Elliot
    Darlow
    Sterry
    Dummett
    Lascelles
    Shelvey
    Colback
    Townsend
    Roberts
    Armstrong
    Mitrovic

The rest I’d get rid of. If they don’t get bought then just release them

I think the Club is concussed and has a head injury.
I know I do from banging my head against the wall.

In Boxing and Rugby the fight or game would be stopped and a full assessment of the situation would be undertaken by external Medical Professionals.
That could take weeks so in the meantime the team could go to Spain for a holiday ( something many fans can only dream of ) before returning fully invigorated and ready to rumble.

Me – I can only take Aspirin and after today’s showing that will be quite a dose.

At least Townsend gives us a threat Springy mate. He has pace and he can shoot. How many of our players can you say that about? It’s still shocking to me how bad we are. What is Charnley doing still in charge? Any other club and he’d be long gone. He didn’t deserve to stay after that pathetic second half of last season. Now he’s been in charge while we wasted most of 80M and gotten us relegated.

    Charlie

But a least the Angel of the North attracts praise!

If it was me, I would keep….

Krul, Elliot, Perez, Shelvy, Townsend, Mitro.
Maybe: Mbemba, Hidara, Aarons and Lascelles

Offer Rafa contract with bonus to go straight back up.

Ashley , Charnley, Carr, Moncur and Beardsley gotta go.

Start again. All I want is prem football and a team of grafters.

Agree on those players, I’d add SDJ to that list and make him club captain, like he should’ve been since his arrival. Aarons, Sammy and Mbabu too, if the former will stay.

Honestly think Bruce will be our manager. Hull faltering to a play-off spot after looking so strong in the first half of the season, if they don’t repeat their play-off win to secure promotion again, he’ll be gone. There’s a contingent that want him gone now and it’s growing.

Really difficult to say whether he’d be a good appointment, certainly won’t be the flair modern manager many want, but he can drill a defence better than most and that’s the platform for any good team. Even when relegated they had something like the 11th best defence which is an anomaly for a relegated side.

    Gotta be realistic.

Also plays 3-5-2 which would be a change and maybe

    ________Mbemba__Lascelles__Dummet________

could become a good trio. Think he’d go in for Robertson too, who I’d be delighted to see at LWB.

@GeordieTwo, Charnley didn’t in charge. Ashley does.

How is it that Southampton in the second half strolled around and were still faster than our lot. No one seems to care and they call themselves professionals. Yes Townsend should be MOM as at least he looked interested and scored a cracking goal. Wouldn’t you think that as professionals all on good salaries they would respond to the goal and at least try? They gave the ball away with passes that would never defeat Aston Villa let alone S/ton (no disrespect the AV) but they are down. Now watch the Mackems do something stupid and win tomorrow! Big Sam said that no matter how much he believes it is the players who also have to believe our lot gave up just after Christmas. Has anyone questioned why it is that we never have a good spell after the Christmas break? Well it is Championship next season and it is all well and good saying who you would keep the others have to be attractive to other clubs who want to buy them and at their level of salary that could prove to be difficult they could do an Alan Smith sit on their backsides and take their money that is all they are interested in, pride, playing football just is not part of their make up. I agree, Charnley Carr must go, but Bob Moncure is Newcastle through and through and perhaps has had no input because he has not been allowed to have any before he took the poison chalice of the directors room he spoke good sense through the Chronicle and was always fervent about his desire for the good times to return. Give us a board who know football and have drive and passion not the gormless buddah we have now.

    OK, wait for it.
Here comes the revival and salvation!

Actually, I wonder of Rafa will stay for the rest of the season. Maybe he will be here but let his assistants manage the games to get some experience of how bad it can be.

Janmaat faked injury because he doesn’t want to play for us. He feels he is too good for the team. His defending is awful and his end product going forward is also lacking quality, and he concedes so many stupid fouls. Perez/Mitrovic doesn’t work, Taylor/Mbemba doesn’t work, Shelvey/Wijnaldum doesn’t work. Sissoko does NOTHING, Anita is USELESS AT EVERYTHING, and Siem De Jong – what can I say? He is just jogging around, never seen him do a full sprint. Of course we have two full backs and Coloccini out injured, BUT: They are not good enough either. I don’t think Benitez picked the right team today, Anita at left back gives every opponent a one-man advantage. But it wouldn’t matter anyway today, the players were not up for it. I have had enough with those lazy players who can’t even string three passes together without losing the ball. If we kick it long we either lose the header or lose the second ball. I would have been furious in that dressing room after the game if I had managed a team that didn’t even give everything they had. How did we end up with this laughable crop of players? Without Elliot / Krul nobody can save this, we will not be able to keep a clean sheet with that team, so i hope Benitez can show us an attacking game plan next time, and a lineup that doesn’t feature Vurnon Anita in any position. How did that lad end up playing so many premier league games? I sincerely think that I am a better player than him, and I play fifth division in Norway. No progress so far, Rafa – good luck for the last 6 games, you are going to need it! Inept, calamitous performance today. Good strike by Arjen Townsend, but I don’t think he played especially well either. Wijnaldum away for large periods of every game, not showing any commitment or desire to win. Tired of this. I even have ipVanish New Zealand IP service so that I can watch every game that is not viewable in Europe, but it is a waste of time and money, when 99 % of the performances is like what we saw today. Time and time again. We deserve better. Great club, great fans, great atmosphere, great stadium, shit team. And with us having 11 % of all the injuries in the league this season, something has to be done with the medical department too.
