Gini Wijnaldum has been a real disappointment in the second half of the season after he was easily our best player in the first games through the end of last year.
But Gini doesn’t seem to have the necessary fight or character when things get tough in a game and when the chips are down he runs for cover – cover meaning in this case – please don’t give me the ball as I hide out on the field.
That’s the problem with too many of our players this season and last season too.
Gini Wijnaldum – plays well for the Netherlands
In the last seven games we have picked up one point and we deserve to be relegated and it looks like we will get our just rewards and we can hardly complain about it.
This is what Gini Wijnaldum has said in an interview today:
“We have quality in the team, but that’s not enough,” “You have to do it good as a team and all together.”
“It was a different situation at PSV.” “We won a lot. The confidence is always there, you’re helping each other.” “It it goes well, everyone feels good and enjoys it.” “When you enjoy football, you’re at your best.”
“It’s a different situation now.” “There’s not a lot of confidence, so it’s harder to manage a team that doesn’t have confidence.” “Things will happen by themselves if you’re in good shape.” “Right now, it’s difficult.”
“I was playing as a central midfielder, not an attacking midfielder, but still, I think I must create more chances in a game,”
“I understand their anger and frustration.” “I’m happy they are still supporting us.“We are in a difficult situation and we need all the support we can get and especially the support from the supporters.”
“I was playing as a central midfielder, not an attacking midfielder, but still, I think I must create more chances in a game,”
We expect a number of our players to leave the club in the summer and they include Wijnaldum, Janmaat, Sissoko and Townsend among others.
This is a complete and utter disaster for Newcastle United and our fans have been let down by those running the club as well as by a number of our players.
We’ll leave it at that before we have to get the handkerchiefs out.
Don’t worry things will be a lot better next season when we will definitely win a lot more games in the Championship.
That’s true isn’t it?

Dummett is left footed and Mbabu is right footed but he does seem comfortable with his left foot!
Dummett played right back for us once and it was a disaster ! He is barely comfortable on the ball with his strong foot never mind putting him on the right hand side!!

Comment #2No white handkerchiefs to wave here Ed, we will never surrender, we will fight them on the beaches – probably at Whitely Bay the way the results have gone

Thanks for the clarification! So are we brave enough to try Mbabu on the right? I dont have much faith in Anita out there to be honest

Comment #6Instead of talking the talk and uttering words they think we want to hear, it’s just a pity, a disgrace no less, that they can’t bring themselves to play their hearts out for their Club, our Club!
They should be shown footage of Jonas against West Ham – a lesson in playing with pride and passion.
The likes of Gini, Sissoko, Janmaat and others should be ashamed of themselves!
