Rafa Benitez – This Player Has To Realize How Good He Is

Rafa Benitez in his press conference today had some good words to say about Andros Townsend as well as Moussa Sissoko and it seems that Rafa’s main concern with the former Tottenham winger is that he doesn’t quite realize just how good he is.

Andros made one and scored one on Saturday and he was second in the Man of the Match voting to Jamaal Lascelles – and he had an excellent game against Swansea.

Rafa had good words to say about Moussa Sissoko that the Frenchman always trains very well and gives 100% and has been helping Rafa with some of the French players with some translations and Moussa always tries to carry out exactly what Rafa wants.

Rafa had some significant praise for Andros Townsend who has turned out to be a great buy for us in January:

“I think he can score goals and he has to realize just how good he is.”

“He has the ability and the quality to get into the box and make the difference.”

“So if he can understand that I am very pleased, but the main thing for me for Andros is that he has to realize he is really good and he can make a difference.”

Those words should give Andros some great confidence for the rest of the season, that one of the top managers in the game thinks he is a lot better than he himself thinks he is.

Hopefully Andros can bang in a few goals tomorrow night with that great left foot of his.

The 24 year-old is already becoming a big fan favorite on Tyneside.

aya vs sissoko. ..beast vs beast

Colback only job is to follow de bryne everywhere. Tiote sit in front of back four. Dmemba..follow aguro. Dummett..Anita sit approach with caution

Total counter attacking football then in the form of mitro to hold it up…townsand..wini and maybe pace in the form of arrons or obertan

City weakness is rash defending…pump some quick balls into them at pace and reap the rewards. So we need pace. Mitro will boss mangle or it amend. Their strength us aguro ..De bryne right now….cancel their treat and hope the likes of silva..yaya..nasri have an off day.

Start with mitrovic tomorrow instead of cisse, how he’s in the team i will never know, Townsend has done more in the last couple of games than cisse since we signed him a few years ago.

Townsend has impressed me recently he is creating good chances every week and his corners are dangerous as they are played in with pace

If only we could get someone on the left wing that could do the same it would open the game up Obertan could maybe be that man…..

Love your optimism mate but hope is not a strategy…you’re straying into the fantasy land of Carver and Mclaren with that one mate! 🙂

IMO Mitro has to start and we need to find a way to unsettle their defence…whether that’s by Mitro bullying them and/or by townsend and Gini running at them constantly and putting them on the back foot.

We cant let them have and keep possession otherwise they’ll murder us…we have to unsettle them and swarm the player on the ball and run at their defence somehow…so sissoko has to start, townsend has to start and we need Gini running at them.

We have create havoc somehow because if they settle on the ball and control the pace we’ll get murdered

Bri – people said a lot of stuff. I once thought sissoko was more than a horse and that Wijnaldum would run the show for us. Live and learn.

Just check through some of the comments before he signed.
I recall someone comparing him to Obertan. But he’s a far better player than that.

Half time. Spurs looking good again and one up. Personally I’d sooner they won it, having built carefully for the last few seasons. Plus Leicester fans are getting all billy big boots. ‘We were here when we were shit’. Really? REALLY?!!!! Attendance records tell a different story. As low as 18k in the PL. So, if you’re one of those johnny come lately (previously invisible) fans, ou know where to shove your clappy toy! 😉

The 18k was a seasons average, so gates were regularly under that. They need to learn some humility – as well as check their historic facts. Easy to be loyal if you only count the good times as real.

Jail, they ARE johnny come lately’s and ST’s have nothing to do with it. Why mention ST’s? If you weren’t there for the last few seasons, but suddenly you are there now that they’re top of the table, then you are, by any definition of the phrase, a johnny come lately.

    Team for tomorrow
tough one that – I would most likely start with the same team as started on Saturday.
Tiote and Colback to fill the space in front of our defence to try and stop De Brune running with the ball like he did against Chelsea where he was brilliant.

Shelvey to much of a ‘Holywood player’ likes to play fifty yard balls all the time and in this game we need ‘dogs of war’ players to harry close them down

Cisse reasons are two fold – to play on the shoulder of there defence and chase and harry them and try to run them ragged.
then bring on Mitro as an Impact player along with Perez and Shelvey as on Saturday

i was one that had concerns about signing townsend
if we were going to buy him as a let winger i was ok with it left footed player on the left all good if not a little over priced

as for his stats his stats were no better than obertans and if u had ever seen him for spurs and the odd game for england he was very wastefull cutting inside on to his left foot

to his credit and maybe rafa as well he isnt wastefull and he tests the keeper more

he seems to have matured a bit maybe

for me i would still like him on the left whipping first time balls into the box
maybe it will come next season

spurs were good tonight but not just there attacking play but there work rate and blistering pace, scary stuff….should be something our lot need to work at…chasing, closing down, not allow opposition players time to look up or make a forward pass….and looking at the english players if they can take that form into the euro’s there maybe a bit hope, rose, walker, dier, kane and alli all good 2nyt.

Mmm, Spurs looking very good. They have on occasions been known to bottle things, so I’m hanging onto that hope should they need a win last game. That said, if we’re still in with a shout last match, I’d be happy enough. It will have shown that Rafa has got his message across and we’ve been winning games. That would make for one hell of a game for the neutrals, but not sure my ticker could handle it. 😉
Jail. I’m all ears. Why did you mention ST’s whilst defending Leicester’s fair weather fans?

Jesus I hope Spurs have nothing to play for when we play them and their Euro players don’t fancy an injury.

i think the lack of a genuine right winger/creative player is why townsend is playing on the right…playing 4-2-3-1 wont help as the wide players are expected to come inside to help link with the striker…dont think we’ll see balls being whipped in by wingers unless theres two strikers up front as one striker will struggle b y himself.

    Tomorrow night I’d go:

It Gini doesn’t perform tomorrow then he should be dropped, as i think it will be too much of a risk to play Aarons or obertan, if wijnaldum suddenly turned up tomorrow he could cause them massive problems and Rafa likes inverted wingers

Springy, you ain’t wrong marra. If we’re going to use Mitrovic’s bonce as an attacking option, we need left wingers on the left and vice versa. I think Rafa was the first to use 4231 – or one of them – and it has brought him success. I’d like to 433 or even 442 but it won’t happen his watch 😉 Anyway, he’s gonna do it his way and in fairness, there are improvements match on match. I said a couple of weeks ago that I don’t think he pictured the derby and norwich as must wins. He was using those games to completely reset the players minds and targetted the last four home and Villa away. Don’t forget how really poor we were/are. I think the message is slowly getting through and the back four look a lot more solid with Lascelles and Mbabu in the middle. We would never have survived playing how we were, so at least now we might have a slight chance.

i am more than happy with townsend on the right
    at the moment

if rafa stays i cant see him using a 442 and having wingers bombing up and down the line
    which is ok
at times its easier for the player to be on there natural foot

Trust our luck for Kompany and Sterling to be returning for our match?!

In all honesty I am expecting a loss tomorrow (and at Anfield) because City have such a strong squad – IF – we do get a point or 3 – then it’s a bonus.

Charlie, unless Villa and the mackems went down with us that year, it’s pretty meaningless. 😉 You can find many coincidences in football, but it’s only a bit of fun and – fortunately – has no bearing on reality. This Vardy ban might upset Liecester’s ballance and let Spurs in – especially if it gets added to. The wrongly held feeling of injustice might shatter their belief. One hell of a run in marra! 🙂

cisse must be no where near the ground tomorrow , we cant affoed to carry anyone, Everyone has a job to do, cisse wasnt doing his on saturday – colback done it for him and it nearly cost us coz colback was out of position on the counter , but someone had to show cisse how to do it. not even on the bench for me.

Cisse’s hold up play is non existant.
    Colback’s out of his depth.
The rest are putting in a decent effort.
