Two Newcastle Players Make PL Team Of The Weekend

Our best two players on Saturday were no doubt Jamaal Lascelles and Andros Townsend and between them they got close to 80% of the Man of the Match vote – with Jamaal edging out Andros with 44% of the vote.

And the two of them have made Harry Redknapp’s Premier League team of the weekend and Harry has said some words about 22 year-old Jamaal Lascelles who is coming into some good form for the side when it really matters.

Jamaal Lascelles after scoring on Saturday

This is what the former Tottenham manager has said about Jamaal:

“Jamaal Lascelles is still young but growing in confidence and looks a bright prospect.”

Newcastle are trying to hang onto our Premier League status after another disastrous season and it’s good to see both players playing well at the moment – Jamaal in central defense and Andros on the right wing.

Andros made one and scored one on Saturday.

Jamaal scored the vital first goal with a header from a corner and defended very well – and he seems to be prospering from the coaching of Raga Benitez and is only in the side because Coloccini is out injured.

Now both lads have to be even better tomorrow night when we entertain Manchester City,  who last week reached the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time ever and thrashed Chelsea 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Newcastle are still 2/9 for the drop still very much up against it but smashing Swansea is a big step they normally run rings around us and we’re on a good run of form

Confidence is a powerful thing and if Sissoko plays well until the end of the season we might just dig ourselves out
