Man of The Match Against City A Big Surprise

Cheick Tiote almost left Newcastle in January when it looked like he would be joining the Chinese Super League, but it didn’t come off even though we brought in Bordeaux midfielder Henri Saivet from Bordeaux as a replacement on a five year contract for £5M.

Cheick Tiote in action against Manchester City

Cheick had a terrific game for Newcastle on Tuesday night and he got 34% of the Man of the Match vote and the Ivorian was one reason Newcastle did so well in central midfield against the City stars.

There were good performances all over the pitch on Tuesday night and the impressive Vurnon Anita had another excellent game and scored that terrific equalizer after 31 minutes and got 27% of the vote in second place.

Jamaal Lascelles continued his good form with another solid game at the back where he combined well with Chancel Mbemba and got 13% of the total vote.

Jamaal beat out captain Moussa Sissoko who again played well while wearing the captain’;s armband.

It was a good point for us, although 3 points is what we really needed, but it was one of the best performances yet under Rafa Benitez – long may it continue – and at least over the final four games of the season.

A rotating board eh? We’d have to ask Jesper about that. I think they could all swivel, though 🙂

We could be playing Liverpool at the right time, the game with Everton will have took its toll and they have a very important game against Villareal on thursday, its very unlikely they’ll finish in the top 4 and winning the Europa League gives them a place next season.

What puts us in the brown stuff is that the last two games the mackems & norwich play both Watford & Everton.

    The current form table reads

    17 Everton
    18 Newcastle
    19 Watford
    20 Villa
