Pundit – Newcastle Could Get Lucky at Liverpool

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson thinks that both Liverpool and Newcastle are improving under their two top managers and the Reds do play Villarreal in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final in Spain next Thursday night.

It’s thought that Reds manager Jurgen Klopp could rest some players for tomorrow’s game and that could give Newcastle a chance of getting something out of this game.

Paul Merson – Newcastle could get lucky

This is what Paul has said on Sky Sports:

“I was impressed with Newcastle against Man City, they were good,” “Liverpool keep on getting better and better under Jurgen Klopp and they put Everton to the sword in the derby.”

“I fancy Liverpool here but, with a Europa League semi-final with Villarreal coming up, they may rest players – that said they still turn in decent performances when they do change their team.”

“This is where luck in the relegation fight comes in, because if Liverpool were challenging for the top four they would play a full-strength side, and that may help Newcastle’s cause.”

Just like Manchester City last Tuesday night Liverpool seem to be at the top of their game before they play us, but Newcastle are finally coming into some real form when it really matters.

We need something out of this game and then in the final three games at home to Crystal Palace and Tottenham and away at Aston Villa we could even win all three games with a little luck.

That’s possible if the team keeps improving and the players keep listening to Rafa Benitez and do what he is asking of them.

    Karl Darlow is right.
The Toon in the last two games have played like a proper PL outfit – the next item on the agenda is to address their away form !
We met Man City after their demolition of Chelsea and stood toe to toe – now after Liverpool’s similar job on the Toffees we have to do it again.

We played well last Tuesday. My worry is do we still have the inconsistency that has dogged us all season and not turn up at Anfield?

Something tells me that Rafa’ll have the lads fired up at Anfield and the Liverpool fans’ affection for him could work against Klopp, gaining a psychological edge over Liverpool. They won’t be as confident of a home win as had we been under McClaren say.

All in all, it won’t be a 4-5 thriller but I fancy a 2-3 born of grit, guts and determination.

C’mon lads, you’re capable of anything on a good day and Saturday 23 April’s as good a day as we’ll get.

Jeez man! Do they pay these pundits for this tripe? Is there a single word in there that one of us rank and file mere mortals couldn’t have told you?
