Who Was Newcastle’s Man Of The Match In Fighting Comeback?

It looked like the same old story away form home when we were 1-0 down after just two minutes – two minutes faster than the first goal we gave away in last road game at Southampton.

And then after 30 minutes if got worse as Lallana scored all too easily into Karl Darlow’s top right hand corner and the game looked over.

But nobody told (the great) Rafa Benitez or the Newcastle players and the lads came roaring back with goals from a Papiss Cisse header after 48 minutes and local lad Jack Colback scored with that great left foot of his after 66 minutes to get what could be a very valuable point at Anfield where we hadn’t won since 1994.

Rafa has turned these players into real fighters – and he may save us yet.

Well done lads. A tremendous recovery in the second half. Cisse’s goal was immense (another assist for Anita). Colback got some luck with the deflection. Very encouraging. Our pressing really rattled them.

    great comeback but…..

Dummet seemed to get very easily beaten and exposed, plus his distribution is very poor.

Colback kept giving endless needless fouls away, has no pace and just pushes people right under the ref’s nose.

Cisse has a truly chronic first touch and an amazing ability to be endlessly offside.

Tiote thinks he’s Maradona and gets caught.

But maybe most of all we have no mobile rapid striker to get away or in behind. Mitro and cisse just have no pace to do that.

Given the above it’s quite amazing what rafa’s doing. who would have given us a prayer at 2-0 down. If only that muppet charnley had ditched SM in La manga.

Great comeback, but another first half wasted. Why do we do it??

Cisse WITH Mitro from now on if he plays.
we need to be able to have an outlet when we play, either Mitro to hold it up or someone wit pace to run the channels and turn the Cbs. Cisse alone doesnt work.

Such a shame the board waited so long to bring Rafa in, that extra 2 games after the Spain break could cost us.

It’s totally out of our hands. Sunderland have 2 games in hand and they are due a shock win or 2. 2 wins from scums and we are buried.

Yes we needed to give Rafa a few more games Rotonda but he’s still doing a magnificent job with what he has. And with shirkers like Doumbia hanging around the club.

Anita for me he was immense – defending and attacking.

Pity could be to late to stay up – but where has that commitment passion been the rest of the season.

Hmmmmm, not a terrible result. I just feel like we really needed a win today to have a chance. Good fight though.

If Rafa stays on with us he’ll soon sort the parasites out. Doumbia gone, Obertan gone (overpaid w@nker), Taylor gone.

la manga…..would of been after villa at home for me….all decent points but 2 things that relly boil my piss….stupid fouls, either in dangerous places defensively or letting the opposition off easy when struggling to clear….lack of intelligence and has been all season if not longer….the other thing not being sharp and awake the beginning of a half, time after time we get caught with quick goal at the start of the halfs…..irratates the shite out of me tbh.

If Rafa stays I think Janamaat will go.

I have a feeling he might be a negative influence in the dressing room.

i remember McClaren saying something to the effect of ‘once a game begins, theres not much a manager can do to effect it’

you look at the sideline during games and its much different than Steve/Cathro

You actually have Rafa and his assistant yelling orders at players.

Five points from 3 matches is a miracle from this team when you consider who we played hibbit. Tremendous job from Rafa. You can actually see some fighting spirit now.

I totally agree, Rafa is limited to his team selection, even when every player was fit it’s still limited. So your right 5 points from three games is very good. Although I think it’s to late to save our season.
    But there’s still hope.

You get the feeling that this cuptie is the last chance saloon for Roberto Martinez.

If we win the next two the pressure is on Sunderland and Norwich. We can still save ourselves. Give all the credit to Rafa for putting us in this position after the disgraceful performances under McLaren.

Blofal sez, he thinks Janmaat may be a negative influence in the dressing room.

    He think’s ?

He’s only our best full back by a country mile and we should be happy to have him.

It appears certain fans wouldn’t recognize a decent player if their lives depended on it, criticizing guys like Janmaat and Sissoko, who are outstanding, but then what do I know.
