Liverpool 2 Newcastle 2 – In Pictures – As It Happened

Here’s Newcastle’s great fight-back in pictures after the lads came storming back in the second half to earn a valuable point after being down to goals from Daniel Sturridge after 68 seconds and Adam Lallana after 30 minutes and it didn’t look too good at half time.

But Rafa said he made two or three little changes at half time and that made the difference.

Must admit I didn’t think we’d get much from this game so delighted with the result irrespective of those that think we were poor in the first half.

I go to this game every year and stay with a mate who lives in kirby and anyone else who was there watching the game will tell you we did very well to stay in touch in the first half. Strides goal was very well taken as was lallana’s and the scouser completely dominated possession and pace of the game…and yet again it took half time for Rafa to make the team understand what they were doing wrong and what to do to get back in the game.

This has happened in just about every bloody game we’ve played under rafa…it’s as if the players have no understanding and cant read a game and can’t react to game until they’re told at half time.

We’ve no leaders and no-one with a bit of nouse…we’re chasing the game all the time and that needs to change right now or we’ll be down

    Morning fella.

I totally agree re the lack of leaders, it’s a worry when a young CB who had hardly played a match is the ‘leader’ who let it be known players were not doing enough.

Shelvey had a great debut but just totally looks uninterested.

Townsend has pleased me but it’s as if we play with 7 or 8 making an effort, the rest just going through the motions.

I must admit I was underwhelmed when Townsend was signed, but he’s now proving to be one of our key players.

On the other hand, I had high hopes for Shelvey. What’s gone wrong with him?

    Morning Bambams

I think it’s not just the lack of a leader…it’s more of a collective lack of understanding of how to react to way the opposition are playing.

The players are always looking to the manager as he attempts to help them but at some point these players need to be working it out for themselves…they’re like first year apprentices with no experience or nouse looking for guidance every step of the way
