Rafa´s Important Message To Newcastle Fans

9:37 am, Tuesday, April 26th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 34 Comments

Newcastle play two of our last three games at home – against Crystal Palace on Saturday and Tottenham on the final day of the season – May 15th.

And Rafa Benitez is again hoping that Newcastle fans can help the side get two home wins, which could be vital for our survival.

Alan Pardew will bring his FA Cup finalists to St. James’ Park on Saturday and it is crucial we pick up all 3 points against a side who have struggled this year in the league.

Rafa Benitez waves to fans after 2-2 draw at Liverpool

This is what Rafa has said about the run-in and what the fans can do:

“Every game for us now is massive so we know we have to perform.” “We play at home and the fans are crucial for us.”

“We will see if they can help, they can help us get the first goal.”

“When you are at the bottom of the table, and you can still see the spirit and fight, you have to be pleased with the players.”

“And the fans, because it’s difficult for them.”  “They are still pushing and helping the team.”

“The character of the team has been a big step for us.” “We can keep believing and keep fighting.”

Newcastle are still favorites to go down but it looks like three wins – the two at home and the away game at already relegated Aston Villa could still we out salvation.

And certainly our fans will be doing all they can to help the side get those vital wins.

Here´s hoping.

Comments welcome.

these are the fans a lot on here don’t want to go to games

  • 2 hibbitt // Apr 26, 2016 at 9:46 AM

not for many years if every
    always on here during games

  • 3 Spoof // Apr 26, 2016 at 9:46 AM

We now do have a great chance of survival, 6 points from our next two games is a must and very possible, Palace at home and Villa away are both very winnable, you then look at both Norwich and the sad lot’s fixtures and we could have a very nice cushion going into the Spurs match, West Brom possibly done us a favour last night as well.

Someone mentioned he might do his old side a favour by selecting a weakened side.
If I was approaching an FA cup final I would be tempted to rest my better players and keep them out of the firing line of a team fighting relegation.

JIb….Bit early in the day to be giving incorrect information to the blog, no?

Not a good start. Perhaps another coffee is in order?

A little hint, SJP is not NUFC, it’s their stadium. I would have thought someone like you would know that. Oh well, have a good un.

  • 6 Jib // Apr 26, 2016 at 9:51 AM

    Not always Hibbitt

  • 7 reilly // Apr 26, 2016 at 9:52 AM

few rumours doing the rounds that villa fans are planning to invade the pitch during the game against us.
wtf would happen if the game was abandoned, would we get all points or none.

  • 8 Ibizatoon // Apr 26, 2016 at 9:52 AM

hibbit…At this moment in time, who the hell is saying don’t go to games?

Maybe a couple of posters, not a lot, by any stretch of the imagination.

  • 9 Spoof // Apr 26, 2016 at 9:53 AM

Palace won’t play a weakened side for the cup final, the final is too far in the future for that, resting player’s for three weeks would cause them to lose their edge, last game of the season he may rest them but not now, and they can still mathematically go down, he will desperately want a result up here

  • 10 Lee Charnley Bunga Party // Apr 26, 2016 at 9:54 AM

I could see Cabaye getting sent off if we rough him up early enough he got away with a shocking tackle on Wijnaldum the last time we played them but we have a different team mentality now

Sunderland and Norwich are not great they have had all season with the same managers and been able to bring in players and are still in the bottom 3! Also lucky with injuries and getting to play a player who should have been in jail getting them points earlier in the season!!

If we had Rafa all season with a transfer window we would have been nowhere near the bottom 3 we now have momentum and a fit defence !

  • 11 Spoof // Apr 26, 2016 at 9:56 AM

The chances are it would be played behind closed doors

  • 12 hibbitt // Apr 26, 2016 at 9:58 AM

not many i admit but still one or two

  • 13 Lee Charnley Bunga Party // Apr 26, 2016 at 9:59 AM

Where are you hearing that ?

  • 14 Jib // Apr 26, 2016 at 10:02 AM

Your first post was a sarky pisstake of Ed der blog meister.

I’ve told you before , you effete southern softy , don’t dish it out if you cannot take it .

  • 15 reilly // Apr 26, 2016 at 10:08 AM

    a friend whos a villa fan.lee

  • 16 Jib // Apr 26, 2016 at 10:10 AM

I think the idea was that after us CP have Stoke at home and Soton away which should be strolls in the park and better prep for them.

  • 17 Lee Charnley Bunga Party // Apr 26, 2016 at 10:11 AM

To be honest I dont blame them at all if we still had Mclaren in charge and were relegated I would be wanting to storm the gates and get Charnley and Ashley hanged on the last game!!

Would be typical that we would storm a few goals ahead and Villa fans get the game cancelled

  • 18 Jib // Apr 26, 2016 at 10:12 AM

If the Villa fans invade the pitch and stage a sit in we will be awarded the points – loads of precedents for that.

  • 19 Jib // Apr 26, 2016 at 10:15 AM

In fact the FA could deduct points off of Villa as they start the Chamionship !

  • 20 Jib // Apr 26, 2016 at 10:16 AM

    Championship even

  • 21 martoon // Apr 26, 2016 at 10:17 AM

Jib @18 – Maybe we could have a secret weapon of Toon fans wearing Villa shirts. Then if we are losing they can invade the pitch, get the match abandoned and ‘Hey presto’ we have 3 points 🙂

  • 22 martoon // Apr 26, 2016 at 10:19 AM

Seriously – I’m wondering what kind of reception Pardew will get at SJP? I’ve got a feeling it will no be good!

  • 23 Lee Charnley Bunga Party // Apr 26, 2016 at 10:20 AM

I would prefer it if the fans just cheered on our team and not get into giving him abuse as it could end up spurring on his team !

Booing Cabaye on every touch of the ball should happen though he would deserve that

  • 24 Jib // Apr 26, 2016 at 10:20 AM

    Ha ha
I’m up for it if you are
I’ll start practising me yamyam accent
    “Where dow yow cum frum”

  • 25 martoon // Apr 26, 2016 at 10:28 AM

    Jib – I’m from Baaaarminham 🙂
Lee Charnley Bunga Party – I forgot about Cabaye – yes he’ll definitely get booed. I agree about Pardew and I know a lot of people didn’t like him and won’t agree with this but as an ex-toon manager he deserves a little respect – only a little mind you no booing but no applause either.

  • 26 Lee Charnley Bunga Party // Apr 26, 2016 at 10:33 AM

To be honest if Benitez or someone of his quality was hired when Pardew left last season like should have happened no one would really be bothered about this game at all!

Palace are about Pardews level and good luck to him I just hope we are playing him next season in the same league !!

  • 27 Jib // Apr 26, 2016 at 10:43 AM

What a double that would be for 2016
    Leicester PL Champs
    Crystal Palace FA Cup winners
Europe must be shaking in their shoes

  • 28 Ibizatoon // Apr 26, 2016 at 10:46 AM

Jib…Ermm, no, wrong again. Must we keep this up?

Tom made a joke about what Rafa said (Ed just wrote the article, the quotes were Rafa’s) and I extended the joke.

Not an attack on Ed, nor Rafa.

I do note you didn’t take exception to Tom’s original post either. Nice to know I get special treatment.

In simple terms win our last three games and we stay up.

With Norwich and sunderland both to play everton and watford I can see both picking up points from those two games.

It’s looking more and more that the final day of the season will decide it.

However palace won’t be easy….and it would be typical Newcastle to go to villa dominate the game and draw 0-0.

  • 33 Jib // Apr 26, 2016 at 12:25 PM

    Geordie 157
    In simpler terms.
If we beat CP and Norwich and Sunderland lose we will be out of the zone maybe never to return !
