The following policies should be taken into consideration before commenting:
An update on my health situation - we have terminated the PluVicto treatment halfway through, because of the severity of the side effects - diarrhea, vomiting, and acid reflux.
And there was no evidence the treatment was having any positive effect in stopping the prostate cancer from spreading in the bones.
There are no treatments left for me to go on.I will go into home hospice care now and will have a hospice nurse visit me at home regularly to ensure I am as comfortable as possible and we will treat the side effects of the treatments I have had.
It's down the final stretch now, and I have run out of treatments, and nature will now take its course.
I hope Newcastle can get many wins this season from now on, and I am at peace with all of this.
Thanks for all your help through the years - it's very much appreciated

Comment #1So Palace have had 10 penalties awarded to them this season.
How many have we had ? Nothing like as many I’m sure.

I believe we have had 2 – home to Man U and away at Norwich both scored by Mitro. From memory I don’t think we had more than a few in recent seasons. Bad refereeing at times perhaps but also our lack of play in the box in games 🙁

Comment #3Whatsup are you a scum troll? Lucky average Elliot was out are you kidding me the guy has been player of the season and is by far the best keeper we have (although I do think even Elliot could be improved on).

To grt penalties you need to be in the box. Newcastle has for most the season stayed outside the box concentrated on possession and picking the ball out of our own net.

we have had 2 this season as magscar says
1 last season Away against Man Utd – Cisse scored
season before – i don’t think we had one.
Darlow’s penalty save – first save in 4 years.
Bugga I was physically and emotional drained when I got in last night
Shed a few tears at the minutes clapping when the TOON broke into ‘You’ll never walk alone
Atmosphere up and down went with the game – and the nervousness of the crowd
Great result – awful game –
Pity first half – we did not get to grip with Palace high ball hoof ball and adapted their tactics.
Second half lot better when we kept ball on the deck passed and moved.
Great Goal from Townsend – bit frustrating at times though when running across box – needs to get shot off.
MOM – I gave it to Darlow – played well saved penalty and challenged for/caught crosses coming into box.
Also: Colback had one of his best games for the TOON along with Lascalles.
And Anita who had another great game in defence and attack.
ALL in ALL graet result – but lads don’t blow all the hard work next weekend at VILLA
will die for the toon army

Comment #8From Nottingham Forsst, I knew Lasceles was a good player. He is very composed and huge. Exprience is wat i wasnt sure of but he looks like he can handle the pressure. The big question is if we survive do we need a new CB or we develop our own Stones? coz i believe we have back up in Colo (if he stays and Dummett?

Comment #9The worry is which team will turn up at Villa
I said weeks ago I thought there would be a twist and we would get out the bottom three…..I just hope we can stay out.
If we survive my god we need to back Rafa. The man is head and shoulders above Smc.

Comment #10Roll on Villa, if we can win there then it really turns the pressure up on the others for their midweek games afterwards. Must must beat villa obviously.
Same lineup for me but with Mitro on for Cisse, also would put Sissoko right, Townsend left and Wini in the hole. Sissoko’s touch just isnt good enough to play the 10.

Comment #11Ha ha these MOM votes always give me a laugh. It’s hard to imagine, assuming they are not sadly toon-obsessed makems, the minds of people who adjudged Shelvey, Perez or Sissoko man of the match. F ***wits of the lowest order! 🙂

Comment #12There’s a lot said about momentum in sport, often misplaced over-analysis, but in this type of end of season pressure situation it’s become crucial. It can swing, of course it can, but Norwich have crumbled at the prospect of the task in hand and Sunderland are floundering now. We are on a roll and undoubtably have the best fixture of the 3 next round. I think that in terms of the psychology it’s actually ours to lose now, despite their game in hand. We are still counting on the teams playing them to turn up and play. Pay attention, Chelsea and Everton in particular. Howay the lads!!

Comment #16Watching Lascelles yesterday and on the tv rerun, we have to give promising young players their chance whenever the opportunity presents. Lascelles is young and has a lot to learn but the pace of his development is frightening. He is reading the game, leading really well, and that tackle on Whickam was nothing short of fabulous. He reminds me of a young Woodgate with more advanced leadership skills.

If Anita fit – got to start.
Settled back four got to be first choice and in the last few games have gelled well together.
thought Cisse struggled on his own up front yesterday but at the same time I would start the same team as yesterday.
And if I had to make a change it would be in midfield replace Winjanum – does not travel well with either Perez or Shelvey.
Mitro – I don’t know if their is 90 minutes in him yet – but by-gum he is brilliant coming on second half – Let the BEAST OUT!!!!!.

Comment #18Nice to see Lacelles have a jog round towards the fans’ direction to clap and cheer our contribution at the end. He was genuinely and positively elated. He certainly looks to be revelling in his status as a more regular Premier League player.
He’s done a really good job so far. As I mentioned a while back, he’s the best to jump and head the ball than we’ve had in a while. His couple of headed goals have been big contributions to the team. His ariel presence is a very welcome attribute for the team, especially in defence.

Yeah Cisse was so frustrating yesterday. Obviously if we had any proper options he would be well out of the picture. he’s at his best in and around the box pouncing on loose balls or ricochets. Let’s face it he is never going to be any good slightly isolated up front with the way we play. But at times he just loped around, incapable of holding up the ball or even controlling it. Maddening!
Rafa seems to see Mitro as limited to battering tiring defences, and still not able to last a full game!

I agree about the backline.
Cisse has got a poor first touch unless he is in front of goal, but Mitro does not do very well from kick off either. I would consider starting Perez as the lone striker as he is struggling with playing deeper and can actually distribute the ball.
I am not comparing Sissoko to Cabaye but I like them in the #10 position as they can drop back and bolster the midfield.
Aarons would be another option to replace Wijnaldum as Shelvey still does not fill me with confidence and we have improved without him starting.
Allerdyce can swivel.

Comment #23Just woke up after a heavy night on the sauce and had to make sure it wasn’t a blurry alcohol induced dream I had yesterday…
…but we did WIN, the mackems did get a SPAWNY DRAW and Norwich did LOSE…and it doesn’t get much better than that!
Never thought we’d get in this position so soon
When do the mackems play their game in hand and who is it against?

Shelvey – when he came on – played like a headless chicken look a yard off the pace ran around fouling everyone.
Perez when running with ball – got to get head up had a great chance to get a second goal if had found pass to Townsend.
Never mind – as I say lets not blow it at Villa

“Newcastle United are prepared to cede serious control of club affairs to Rafa Benitez in an attempt to persuade him to stay at St James’ Park.”
However:
“Would Benitez really be prepared to manage in the second tier? It still seems unlikely.”

Comment #30Great atmosphere yesterday, I don’t see how the crowd transmitted their nerves to the players, we started really poorly and Palace, unlike Swansea wanted to win or draw. The crowd obviously reacted to tge lack of quality. Also the fact that Palace’s 2K supporters out sung the whole Milburn stand is not helped by the fact the normally £50 Platinum club is populated by Chinese students, Scottish boys football clubs and Dutch stag do’s.

Comment #33Jdubia I don’t think we should be moving Townsend from left to right considering the contribution he has made from the left. I would take cisse out and put mitro or even Perez (if he wants more mobility). Socks and gini frustrate the hell out of me and we can’t seem to get them in the game I think Aaron’s has to come in for gini as he’s just not offering anything over 90 mins. I would like to see SDJ in the hole but not sure if I would drop socks or bring him off after 50-60 mins. SDJ looks much more intelligent in possession and can hit them from distance aswell

So does that mean Norwich and the scum both have two matches in the last week???
If so that could be helpful and also helpful for us would be if Leicester win the league before spurs come to us.

Comment #38The next major effect I would like to see from Rafa is to somehow get the team to START quickly. I agree that the start was very poor, hesitant. Next week we need to start on the front foot, Villa completely bereft of confidence..so we need to put the foot on their neck and keep it there. We must not let them grow into it, let’s not make it harder ffs. Get into them Rafa!
