West Ham Defender Big Fan Of Andros Townsend

Andros Townsend has been outstanding for us since we signed him from Tottenham in January and at around £11M he seems well worth the money, although he is said to have a release clause of around £8M in his contract in case we are relegated a week on Sunday.

Certainly Andros’ stats are very good and in 11 games he has scored four great goals for Newcastle and also has two assists.

Rafa Benitez congratulates Andros at end of the game

And his winning goal against Crystal Place was something to behold, as he smashed the ball into Welsh International Wayne Hennessey’s top right hand corner of the net giving the Palace goalkeeper no chance at all.

Another Welsh International defender, James Collins of West Ham, has been really impressed with the form of the England International since he signed in January.

Talking on the Goals on Sunday show on Sky Sports this is what James said about the 24 year-old England winger:

“Since he has come in, he has done very well in a team that was struggling,” “He has probably been the shining light and obviously scoring goals.”

Andros is in some of the best form of his career at the moment, so we have to hope he continues that at Aston Villa on Saturday and then in our final game against his old club Spurs on May 15th.

Andros has a chance to be a real hero at Newcastle if he can keep scoring those goals in the final two games of this horrendous seaosn, which will decide whether we remain a Premier League club.

They will also likely decide whether Rafa Benitez stays with us next season.

not to be too nasty but im sick to death of watching the news at the minute on what leicester have acheived. dont get me wrong i was willing them to win it and its changed the whole criteria in the prem on what is needed to win the title, and iys great for football, but what gets me is the importance of getting the right people in to run your club . jealous ? of course i am , everyone on this blog has said for years that ashley had this horrible habit of getting people in who knew diddley squat about football instead of football minded people who could maybe bring some success to this club,
Now leicester are on the map , having reached out to all corners of the world why did ashley not believe that winning the league would have a world wide effect on NUFC and SD . ? I really dont understand the man

Stuart it’s because revenue and brand projection were never meant to be achieved through sporting excellence in Ashleys vision. It was to be achieved by the figures worked for minimal spend to dig into the middle of the PL like a tick and coast along there as he rode the wave of increasing TV revenue.

Hopefully it has dawned on Mike that his way fails because a huge percentage of the audience and market for the club – his ‘product’ – demand sporting achievement. When that penny finally drops and he steals a few pages from the. “LCFC – how we did it” brochure things might change.

Stuart – agree in the most part, why Ashley never put in a decent chief exec and manager (until now) I’ll never know. I wonder whether he even followed football, even then still pretty obvious! Having said that Leicester winning the league will still prove to be a freak I think

Shirebrook is about 50 miles from Leicester.
Let’s hope that Ashley’s head is being done in by Leicester supporting acquaintances.
If he’d not listened to the knowitall tossers like Wise Redknapp and Kinnear we could have been the first team outside the cabal to have won a PL title !

hopefully leicester winning the title has come at a good time if ashley decides to stay at the club to sit down , listen to people , look at leicester, bringing in intelligent football folk – without spending millions on a squad but changing the losing mentallity of NUFC. We are half way there with raffa, let him deal with it for the next 5 years, – not asking for the title but to put us in a position where everyone knows we should be .
