One Change – This Is Newcastle´s Best Team For Aston Villa

9:10 am, Friday, May 6th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 10 Comments

It is another crucial must-win game for Newcastle tomorrow at Aston Villa against the bottom of the league side who have already been relegated.

It´s similar to our second last game last season when we visited bottom club QPR, but we managed to come away with a 2-1 defeat in that game.

Villa have lost their last 11 games since beating Norwich 2-0 at home on 6th February, so they are used to losing – and even last week they were winning 2-1 going into stoppage time at Watford, but Deeney scored twice for the 3-2 win.

Gini Wijnaldum – likely to be dropped

This is Villa´s final home game of the season and they will want to win it for their fans, in what has been a terrible season for them.

For Newcastle, Daryl Janmaat should be fit again but with a splint on his injured hand – and we expect him to be on the bench with Anita fit to continue at right back.

Gini Wijnaldum is likely to be dropped simply because it´s an away game and he doesn´t seem to play well away from home or when things get tough in a game.

We expect Ayoze Perez to be restored to the starting line-up, with captain Moussa Sissoko being in the number 10 position in this team:

Anita Mbemba Lascelles Dummett
Tiote Colback
Townsend Sissoko (c) Perez
Subs: Woodman Mbabu Janmaat Shelvey de Jong Wijnaldum Mitrovic

What would your team be for tomorrow?

Newcastle cannot think this is an easy game and even though Villa have lost 11 straight games – strange things can happen and often do to Newcastle.

The lads tomorrow must come away with all 3 points if we are to survive in the Premier League this season – it´s as simple as that.

Four in five fans think we can do it.

I would like to see us go with a different combo in attack in this game we will have the majority of the possession with Villa sitting back

What Villa do not do well is track runners so we need players who are going to look to get in behind Villa and someone with quality to play through balls

I think taylor will be on the bench. Probably for mbabu because we wont have 2 full backs on there.

I’d like to see 2 up front v Villa, who’s defence is utterly comical, even compared to ours. Maybe play sissoko and townsend wide with mitro and cisse up front.

Id drop Perez and give Shelvey a way back into the team personally, neither Perez or Gini deserve a start

It’s a tough one really, we’re very short on proper wingers, arguably Aarons should be starting in that position but then we’re left with Gini & Ayo on the bench. Those two have played their best football in the no.10 role in my opinion.

Townsend might get to the Euros this summer only up against Walcott and Sterling hes up against now

I don’t think that will happen, even at Liverpool with a really good squad he still insisted on being compact, that won’t change, it will be a 4.5.1 with two defensive mids.

What i LOVE about having a proper manager for the first time in a long, long while is that I completely trust his choices. His starting line-up is one thing, but how nice is it to see a manager making the subs we ourselves would make during a game? For years, managers have baffled me with their substitute decisions but Rafa seems to make very good and very positive subs.

I know Rafa is wedded to 4231 but I would like to see us go for these guys and play 442 with mitro and cisse up front . 442 is much maligned these days which is ridiculous at times. Leicester just won the league with it.
