If Newcastle are finally relegated on Wednesday night, if Sunderland beat Everton at home, then a well-run club would immediately communicate with their fans as a first priority.
A good club would show initiative and start to put plans together that would begin to ensure we could be promoted immediately next May back to the Premier League.
A good club would do that – so that definitely rules out Newcastle with the incompetents who are now running the club.
It’s been a lack of leadership and competence from the top of the club that has caused us to be relegated – assuming we are – and they had ample warning last season when we only just avoided relegation after losing nine of the last eleven games.
Two of the people running Newcastle into the ground
Spending money like it was going out of style while not bringing in players to strengthen the weaknesses in the side has simply been money wasted.
And there’s no doubt the likes of Graham Carr and Lee Charnley wasted the club’s money this season.
Not only that, but they have ensured we will lose at least £100M in Premier League money next May – how’s that for total and complete failure in their respective jobs?
So what exactly will happen on Wednesday night if we are relegated?
In a word – nothing.
If Lee Charnley does issue a communication and it’s like his other ones – it will be more of the self-serving nonsense that doesn’t say anything.
Charnley has neither the experience, the skill nor the temperament to be a top executive of any organization.
And owner Mike Ashley has to take the ultimate responsibility (also known as total blame) for appointing him and then leaving him in place as he and his less than stellar appointment – Steve McClaren – took us down for the second time in seven years.
Enough is enough and how much longer is Mike Ashley going to keep destroying Newcastle United?
Why does he own Newcastle United other than to use the club as a commercial advertising vehicle for his company?
And we hate to even bring up the fact that people will now have to be laid off at the club – Aston Villa announced 500 non-playing staff would lose their jobs because of cost-cutting caused by relegation.
The only saving grace for Mike Ashley – sign up Rafa Benitez on a long term deal and get him to stay on Tyneside – but that has to be a long shot now.

Comment #81As for the Everton game, I think Martinez is a terrible manager, and worse than Pardew (is thought of on here, just so I don’t start anything!), when it comes to falsifying games and making excuses.
I will be at my usual spot in the bar willing Everton to victory though. Sadly, I was there today for the last 70minutes and it didn’t work. Still, there is always a glimmer, and as BandB said earlier, stranger things have happened!

Comment #83Like Ashley said, we’re stuck with each other for the time being. If he gets a decent offer, he’ll sell at the drop of a hat, but that’s even less likely in the Championship and nobody has made that offer in the PL. Nobody ever said supporting the Toon was going to be easy. Those my age have been here plenty of times in the past after all. We pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and it all repeats itself. It’s all a strange masochistic, love affair we’ll never understand. 😉

I can’t see teams coming in for them that they would go to. I don’t think Mbemba has been particularly impressive, extenuating circumstances with the state of the club, but I doubt he will be away. Same with Mitro. I think Janmaat, Krul, Sissoko, Colo will be out of the door (of those still with contracts).
Would I lament any of them leaving? Not really, if we stayed up I’d be keen to see Gini after having a season under his belt, the others I think are easily replaced with better fits for the team.
Perez could be another, but I don’t think he has done much since the end of 2014 to warrant the Barca journalist tripe or any sort of big move. He would be on the bench at a big club, and he seems grounded enough to know he needs to continue his development.
Having said all that, a lot could depend on who is the manager.

Terrible performance. Truth is on effect you didn’t lift my team, we’ve played as well or as poorly under Steve. Your stats compare to JFK’s. Ed put up that table with his win percentage. Although in your defence you didn’t have the time.
Carr must be the biggest to blame. So much money wasted. Expensive useless players. And when we had gold, like HBA, we didn’t know it.
Damn you NUFC for giving me hope. Anyway, let’s do a Hughton next year.

When I first started going to games (I was 4) we finished 3 points above the relegation zone in the top flight. I haven’t had some of the lows many have had, but I haven’t had some of the highs either.
Still, relegation is never good, it doesn’t mean turning your back on it – although it makes it far harder for me to watch out here. I am looking forward to the Friday nights, hopefully against my fellow Brits out here support such as Reading, Villa, Bristol City, Fulham etc.
Ashley will do what he does regardless (although that doesn’t mean we have to make it easy for him and sit back and take it), the NUFC fans will go to games or won’t, but the support and love for the club will still be with most fans.
For what its worth I’d expect attendances to drop to low 40’s. We will lose corporate tickets who need Prem football, and some of those who go that are there for Prem football more than NUFC.

Comment #94A difficult day for all of us. I didn’t think the team had the same fighting spirit as they did for the last few weeks. Very strange given the need for the points. Just the idea of having to start Cisse was enough to put me off. The first half was a joke. Just terrible from both sides. This will take a huge struggle now and I can’t say I see a solution other than if Rafa stays.

Comment #95Rafa ain’t responsible for taking us down, the damage was done before his name was even mentioned. We would’ve been down weeks ago if he hadn’t turned up. Given what he had to work with he’s performed a minor miracle. Even today we dominated the second half and had plenty chances to win it. He can’t be blamed for the players missing chances. Did villa have a shot on target? He set us up right and once again the players let us down.

Comment #96I’ve seen second tier football so many times in my 60 odd years as a supporter it’s not such a bitter pill anymore, more of an expectation.
I expect I’ll end up the same as that very elderly lady on TV today who was so happy with Leicesters success, or is that a pipe dream as well.

It is simple. Today wasn’t glamorous enough. Today wasn’t a shop window sort of day.
Darlow probably deserves a mention. He wasn’t given a chance on here when Elliot got injured, we were losing every game 3 or 4 nil immediately. The lad has come in and done very well. Made some magnificent saves, and has looked assured in most of what he does.
With Darlow, Elliot, Krul (likely to head off imo) and 3 England youth internationals coming through our goalkeeping future looks pretty bright. Amazing how strong our goalkeeping options have been over the last 10/15 years.

Comment #106Absolutely spot on about the goal keeping Lilongwe mate. But that is about the only bright spot. Many will leave, although some of them should be gotten rid of anyway. But lower down the reserves have been poor, as have the youth teams. No development at all after all the turnover of the last few seasons. Beardsley has been a failure. We have question marks everywhere in the club. Just shocking the shambles it appears to be. I like both Darlow and Elliot as keepers. Tim should go. This would be his second relegation with us. What’s the point for him?

Not sure I agree he set us up right. You said yourself earlier in the week you would get at them. You wanted pace to force them back, I’m not convinced by Aarons at this level, but then neither am I by Gini yet, or Sissoko. I’d probably also have started Mitro, either with or instead of Cisse. Changing Mtiro for Cisse gave the defenders a different challenge but still left our centre forward isolated and outnumbered at times.
Colback and Tiote was questionable in a must win game, but away from home, first and foremost Rafa will have wanted us to be solid, so I can understand that.
At least he has removed Sissoko from the left wing, although Gini out there gives us the same problems. Wouldn’t it be great to have a left footed winger who could go outside his man and get a ball in, rather than cutting back inside, narrowing play (particularly with Dummet at full back) and making us more predictable.
Still, I think I questioned Rafa’s selection in a game we won or drew unexpectedly, so…..

Comment #110Lil, highs? Can’t remember many of them like. 😉 Crowds might drop to the low 40k’s, but only until we might win the league – as happened last time down. I can but speak for myself and i’ll be there regardless. This has nothing to do with backing Ashley – god forbid – and everything to do with loving football and in particular loving Newcastle. I well recall 10k crowds and a stadium not fit for purpose in the really dark days. These are nothing like that bad in the cold light of day. Fans will do as they please, i can’t change that, but there are plenty more like me. Anyway, we ain’t down yet. Not ready to throw the towel in just yet. The toon army will be in good voice next season – regardless.

Comment #111When you don’t build a balanced squad you are asking for disaster and that’s what we got. The idea that the only players worth buying are foreign and under 25 (until the panic buying of January) is laughable. We must have brought in over 20 midfielders in the last 4 or 5 seasons. But how many decent CB’s did we sign? One (Mbemba)? And how many experienced strikers? None since Cisse and Ba and Remy on loan. Ludicrous mentality that has to be paid for now.

I think Mbemba has cost us quite a few goals this season. It isn’t a major issue as he is young (maybe) and will learn. The errors he was making were compounded by Janmaat’s poor season, and the lack of any authoritative figure in the back line who is organising, talking and ensuring players concentrate. I think we will likely have hime with us a year or two more, and if he develops mentally to match his physical attributes he will be off unless we have drastically improved.
Lascelles I just can’t see leaving. I know he left Forest to join a Prem club, but I think he is growing in maturity here, and wouldn’t risk having another season as a bit part elsewhere.
Perez was a winger/attacking mid when we signed him. He isn’t a striker, but needs must last season. This is very left field, and would take a lot of work, but I’dlike to see him work a lot on his defensive work and distribution. If he can improve his range of passing, his defensive intelligence I think he could be quite an effective centre mid alongside a Matic/Tiote like player. I can’t see that sort of move happening soon, but I think it is almost certain when he is older.
As for now, he is a bit like Gini, clearly has abilities, but doesn’t really fit in anywhere in the side, and possibly not in this league. I wouldn’t want him to go, particularly if e went down. I think we have the makings of a great forward line with Aarons, Arma, Perez and Mitro. Not sort age of anything there.
I think McClaren played him centre mid a few times pre season. He always got praise for his performances from what I read/heard.

Comment #119Lil, that was my idea, to attack, but so far he hasn’t done that. I wasn’t at all surprised by how he set us up, just not my way. So far, his set up worked. I don’t think entertainment was his top priority, just making us hard to beat and nicking a goal. Given the chances we missed, his way should have brought a result today. Far from his fault we can’t score. I’m not sure Villa had a shot on target did they? I can question his selections, but had everyone done their job, we would be sitting a lot happier tonight.

Comment #120I think Marveaux and Obertan have been released from their contracts so neither of them will be around. Saivet might stay I suppose and I don’t know what they’ll do with Gouffy. Shelvey might be around also. Hard to say about Mitro. He was exactly brilliant for us. Sissoko and Wijnaldum out the door for certain. Townsend will be sought after. Krul will probably go. Janmaat will leave I would think. I hope we can hang on to Mbemba and Lascelles. De Jong will probably try to leave to save his career. Hard to say what will happen with Tiote. Lots of huge question marks.
