There’s a report in the Chronicle today that Newcastle have made no moves yet to get Rafa Benitez to stay at Newcastle should the club be relegated.
That’s not too surprising we suppose, because Rafa has said more than once he doesn’t want to discuss his future until after the season ends next Sunday, when we play Spurs at home.
Rafa Benitez – no move to keep him – yet
There’s a chance we could be relegated before then – if Sunderland beat Everton tomorrow night at the Stadium of Light and in that case maybe some approach will be made to Rafa.
If Newcastle do get relegated then that;s the big question that needs to be answered – will Rafa stay? – and certainly Alan Shearer yesterday made it clear he thought there’s no chance the former Liverpool manager will stay.
Let’s hope Alan hasn’t been talking to Rafa offline and knows that for a fact.
If we do lose Rafa then things will be terrible at the club and for the fans – there will be no hope for Newcastle – none whatsoever.
And as we’ve said many times before, it would be a double disaster for the fans – almost too hard to take.
It would certainly be too hard for us to take – that’s for sure.
We’ll just have to wait and see – but it doesn’t look good on either front – avoiding relegation or keeping Rafa on Tyneside.
However we are told miracles still happen – sometimes.
Maybe fans can help that miracle along – at least the one about keeping Rafa – by letting him know we really want him to stay at the club.

Comment #5The people I feel sorry for the most, if we get relegated, are the back room office staff who will lose their jobs. This is through no fault of their own and most of them probably earn less in a year than some of the players do in a week. However the players if they want to can sit tight on their fat, watertight contracts when they are to blame.

Prozac mate 25 mg should just take the edge off.
Don’t know what anyone else feels but shearer is starting to sh@t me to tears with his opinions .
Great player and I was a massive fan of the ” player” who wasn’t ?
However he seems to love to stick the boot into the cub at every opportunity to sell his column .
Does a team low on confidence need telling week in week out they are not good enough by the club icon? Does if help ?
A man who says he loves this club coming out with more misery about our future this week of all weeks?
We saw your management level alan the last time so you of all people should know how hard coming in at this point of the season without throwing bollocks around about Rafa not staying.
Say it next week if it needs saying.
Maybe you would have gone up in my estimations he
And you, when Rafa was appointed ,offered to come in and work with mitrovic. For eg ( you are his F@ucking hero man!)
Rather than put your differences aside to help out ” your club ” not ash you prefer to sat on the sofa with all the other ones who couldn’t cut it or tried it and found the difference between managing and talking about what others are doing wrong is a bridge to far .
If your not saying anything to help us or twist the minds of the mackums then please just for the rest of the week stfu
