The following policies should be taken into consideration before commenting:
An update on my health situation - we have terminated the PluVicto treatment halfway through, because of the severity of the side effects - diarrhea, vomiting, and acid reflux.
And there was no evidence the treatment was having any positive effect in stopping the prostate cancer from spreading in the bones.
There are no treatments left for me to go on.I will go into home hospice care now and will have a hospice nurse visit me at home regularly to ensure I am as comfortable as possible and we will treat the side effects of the treatments I have had.
It's down the final stretch now, and I have run out of treatments, and nature will now take its course.
I hope Newcastle can get many wins this season from now on, and I am at peace with all of this.
Thanks for all your help through the years - it's very much appreciated

What this blog really needs is Ian Toon to return from the wilderness with a vision.
After all, no-one can now deny that a brave new world has finally dawned.
Come back Ian.
Please.

Comment #43BandB I fear there may be a bit of truth in the plastic fan/suprfan debate rearing it’s ugly head yet again.
The Fans Forum and other supporter groups should get scribing an open letter demanding the resignations of the culprits and requesting Rafa stay – in the next couple of days – BEFORE the Spurs game.
Steal a march so to speach on the PR front.
Inset that we do not want you/ gross incompetence – let them be in no doubt that their future at NUFC is not tenable

Comment #44Rob is a reformed badger gasser who has fallen on hard times since his dad got invalided out of the army and was forced to work in the asbestos factory, leaving his mother to support him and their fifteen children on a meagre income derived from knitting mail sacks out of her own hair and some part time wrestling.

Comment #51Ian praised the hiring of McCardew as the dawn of a new era. He even penned some fly-on-the wall motivational treatises regarding the fantastic things McLaren and his cutting edge Team were going to implement, as if they’d written them themselves. How debilitatingly embarrassing.

Comment #53I got a taste of it the other day Tuff.
The pint glass of outrage was still being lobbed, and the pool cue of retribution wielded, against anyone who dared to worry we’d go down.
The constant posting of Championship squads was only to show that only plastic fans didn’t believe we’d be straight back up, you see 🙂
Yeah, I know…..

Because let’s face it if he did the same as Rafa has done at the start of the season we wouldn’t have been happy!

Comment #57Ian has become a singularity. A black hole, whereby not only has he crumpled in on himself under the immense gravity of his pontificating ingratiations, but he appears to have entrained numerous other characters who were definitely not him into the event horizon. The death of many stars.

Comment #63First game watching reserves/juniors (?), tannoy announces SuperMac’s debut hattrick v Liverpool.
Wet, cold, dark Tuesday evening with no roof, went home happy ‘cause Kenny Wharton scored the winner against Shrewsbury.
Waddle, the unknown young sausage maker from Tow Law, pre-season friendly, leaving West Brom’s then classy midfield on their backsides (was it Bryan Robson et al?).
New Year’s Day v Mackems.
Ned Kelly and Andy Cole’s hattricks v Leicester as the Champions head up.
Watching from the Middle East as Cantona heads the winner at St James and ruins our dream.
Nobby.
Sir Bobby’s homecoming v Sheff Wed.
Vinnie Jones in goal (credit to the lad’s humour), 6:1 v Wimbledon.
Spurs 7:1 with Albert getting the last.
Albert’s chip – 5:0 you all know the game.
Barcelona.
The Mrs-to-be asking if I want to postpone the wedding when we win the semi.
Changing the Wedding times and having a TV put up in the reception ‘cause 10 months earlier never believed we would reach Wembley – Arsenal.
Listening from Eastern Europe a year later as we did it again – Man U.
Alan Shearer – every minute a Geordie – did the season of him and Sir Les really happen.
Sports bar in Jakarta with 10 Geordies and an apologetic Villa fan as we went out with a whimper 7 years ago.
Every weekend, every game, every hopeful, proud minute.
It is our club. Leave us alone and let us rebuild our pride.
Got it off my chest. Sob story over. Let’s get on with next season. HWTL.

Comment #64The villa game showed everyone how poor the squad and players are and how the managers can’t be blamed for everything
I’m just hoping that, that sticks and that these money grabbing tossers don’t ever get an easy ride again
That’s 2 ex managers in the prem next season and 1 in a cup final!
Where as the best squad ever is relegated again shocking!

Comment #68On a plus side, I’m really looking forward to seeing Adam Armstrong in the side.
It’s annoying to think that Sunderland have accrued points with Johnson in the side when the club knew he was guilty. That has kept them up.

It is not my cross to bear.

Comment #73I think Sissoko will be off pretty damn quick.
I think Mr T might follow shortly thereafter – shame as he was a fighter – he may want a final big payday.
Shelvey – massive disappointment – turned out to be a bad buy- I always thought he would be good but not so.
Any manager with these knackers/knobbers at the helm will fail. Tools implementing Mr Tubbs policies.

With all due respect mate. You are clutching at straws there. The acquisition of Defoe (proven to be worth 19 points) and Kirchoff has kept Sunderland up. At a snippet of what we shelled out for Mitro, Saviet, Doumbia, Wijnaldum Shelvey, et al.. Our recruitment and hiring Schteve and then failing to sack him when he was obviously not fit for purpose has sunk us.
At least for once we are not wasting our time squabbling about whether it is the manager or the players fault. The players are sh!te and we have overpaid for them. Moreover, the manager has the wrong motives and the club has went backwards under his stewardship. I will be shocked if Benitez stays, assuming the club has actually asked him, and I will be even more shocked if Ashley sells up.

Comment #78How ideal and uplifting would it be if we had a full house v Spurs to sing with dignity purely in support of this beautiful Club and the retention of Rafa. Not for this undeserving group of players, and of course the inadequate owner and his senior management.
And if we don’t get Rafa, then to stand up, and stand firm, fans, citizens, diaspora, as one, to force Ashley out.

Comment #79Manx, she’ll have spoken to at least one more person at the club. Even if it was just her, she represented the whole club as she should have acted and responded accordingly. Kept quiet different reasons, one being to maximise the amount of points earned before he went to jail. Shocking.
That Aguero offside looks worse and worse now..

Comment #80Toonacious, of course Defoe has kept them up, that is obvious and legit. Johnson is not legit and shouldn’t have been near a pitch.
