Don’t know what the problem is. He’s said he’s sorry and that he intends to make us a ssuccess eventually. Some people are so fickle. 😉

  • 7 davis_toons // May 13, 2016 at 5:27 PM

    ..devastated, hurt and angry.

That’s what he can only bring to the fans, the people that love the club, the place that we are proud of. He can make it right if he wants to.

He have got the network and the abilities.

He just didn’t have the heart.

  • 8 BandB // May 13, 2016 at 5:28 PM

Are these little winks meant to convey some hidden insight that isn’t discernible in your actual words?

  • 9 NoahJ // May 13, 2016 at 5:28 PM

As much as I hate ashley and how he’s destroyed the soul of this club, I can’t help feeling like something of a corner has been turned with him (two relegations and a ridiculous 18 implosion later.

he wouldn’t have shelled out £80m in january, or intervened to get a top coach in Rafa if he was completely uninterested

    here’s to hoping..

  • 10 Mister Tuff // May 13, 2016 at 5:28 PM

    Dok -afternoon – how’s things.
You should not have posted about Darwin – Jib will be looking up on Google to see who he plays for.

As for the statement about flying pigs – Jib will be going -Ugggghhhhh Duh I fort they could fly and citing something like the following as proof and saying duh I’ve see a documentary about it.

  • 11 davis_toons // May 13, 2016 at 5:30 PM

Just one more time. Sign Rafa Benitez up.

  • 12 Mister Tuff // May 13, 2016 at 5:30 PM

  • 13 Bobbybee // May 13, 2016 at 5:32 PM

BandB sorry if that went straight over your head. Sarcasm is generally wasted on children, but clearly some adults struggle with it as well. Or was it you couldn’t resist, despite it making you look a bit thick? Carry on regardless.

  • 14 BandB // May 13, 2016 at 5:33 PM

I think you in particular are going to struggle to make the thick jibe stick sweetheart.

  • 17 Bobbybee // May 13, 2016 at 5:40 PM

BandB, you are so much up your own backside i don’t think so. If you fail to see the sarcasm in that, then you really are dumb. Sorry, that’s how it is. I know you fancy yourself as some sort of genius, but really, that’s not how you generally come across. You jump from track to track continuously, whatever way it’s going. Must’ve really hurt you when you came back expecting glory, only to find most hadn’t missed you or just came out openly and said you should’ve stayed away. Queen bee? Nasty annoying wasp more like.

  • 21 Bobbybee // May 13, 2016 at 5:52 PM

Little girly, maybe i wouldn’t if you and your pathetic little ‘we own the blog’ cronies didn’t attack me every time i post something. I can do this all day. Not that i want to, but if i have to. Tell ya what, why not save yourselves the embarrassment of walking away with your ass handed on a plate – again – and you just ignore me and i will happily do the same. I don’t care how long you’ve been on here – any of you – you don’t own it. You don’t control it. It may be all you have in your sad pathetic lives, but that’s your problem, not mine. Now run along, i’ve come on to talk football with like minded people, not get involved in your comical power trips.

  • 22 BandB // May 13, 2016 at 5:58 PM

Anyone wanna help me with my ass here?
    Bobs is being horrid…
    And very noisy.

Does making a statement about the running of the club at any time of the day or night constitute an attack on you?
    It appears it does.

  • 23 Shadow_Shearer // May 13, 2016 at 6:01 PM

Mike Ashley, u have relegated us twice. Get out of our club!!
Even if we get promoted back in 1 season, it will be the exact same. Kidding on your trying to win a trophy, but really just pocketing all the money to stay mid table.
You only have yourself to blame, u are at a club were u could be treated like a king, but u choose to disgrace the nation!!

  • 24 Jail for Ashley // May 13, 2016 at 6:08 PM

You posted a line about Ashley being apologetic how are people supposed to know if you’re being sarcastic when you’re constantly winking marrow 😀

very good article well worth a read

  • 26 mindshaft // May 13, 2016 at 6:11 PM

to be fair if we get 1 more point in Saturday then we’ve more points than last time we were relegated so surely that’s progress
rebuilding a club is a long hard road and if Ashley’s sticks to his plan however much undeserved glam he gets, we should be on the road to consistent lower mid table and regularly be hitting the 42 point mark at around game 37

  • 27 BandB // May 13, 2016 at 6:13 PM

    Thanks for the article LCBP.

  • 28 Jail for Ashley // May 13, 2016 at 6:14 PM

And as for you handing ass’s out, you accused me of lying and then accused me of denying I’d said the lie, neither of which I’d, when shown the proof you just give a very grown up “whatever” before slinking off to chase your tail again.

  • 29 lochinvar // May 13, 2016 at 6:14 PM

Neville Chamberlain waved a piece of paper with a statement on and look at what effing happened after that.

Was Ashley Nero in a previous life ?

Just install Rafa as Managing Director of ALL football matters with Cathro as the Head Coach.

And get rid of the current Board none of who are fit for purpose.

  • 30 Jail for Ashley // May 13, 2016 at 6:18 PM

Do you think that hiring a top coach might have had something to do with the threat of relegation or do you think that Ashley just woke up one day and said, you know what, I think I’ll make a fist of this.

  • 31 welshgeordie9 // May 13, 2016 at 6:18 PM

If we don’t get Benitez then i reckon we should go for Brendan Rodgers, won the championship play offs final first time with swans (of course) and should have won the league with Liverpool, simple really.

  • 32 welshgeordie9 // May 13, 2016 at 6:19 PM

    Any cockney managers we know.

  • 33 JamesToon // May 13, 2016 at 6:24 PM

Rodgers would be my first choice apart from Rafa followed by Monk

  • 34 Jail for Ashley // May 13, 2016 at 6:25 PM

I’d settle for Rodgers if Rafa walks but if Rafa walks because they won’t agree to his terms and not because he doesn’t fancy the Championship then we’re ferked..

  • 39 Bobbybee // May 13, 2016 at 6:41 PM

Are you real? Maybe the winky smiley was for those too thick to recognise sarcasm, which clearly includes you. I’m sure 90%+ on here recognised it as sarcasm without the wink, but realising you and your cronies would react like children, i put it there for you. Still wasted. And childish? Please, your own personal foul mouthed attacks when you’ve realised you’ve lost a discussion point to you being extremely immature. If i ever sink to your level, it is purely a kindness so you can follow. Now, for the second time, let it go. The rest of the blog has no desire to hear us do this. I have better things to do myself. One single post, aimed at nobody, and it all starts again. I come on to talk football. If it isn’t me, it’s jib. If it isn’t him, it’s welshie. In fact, anybody else will do. The only one thing that links all arguments on here, is you and your muppets. You don’t own the blog. It is not yours. You whined liked crazy about multiples ganging up on you ffs and flew into such a paddy that you launched a multiples witch hunt. Again, nobody else was interested, only your little gang. Has it never occurred to you that maybe it’s not everyone else at fault, but you? So run along, and leave me alone and i promise not to bully you anymore. Again, for your benefit, sarcasm. Right, i’m going now and leave you to the last word, as i know it’ll break your heart if you can’t have it. Next time i come on and post a harmless little quip, stfu eh? It clearly went over your head, but i’m sure some had a little smile at what i said. So for the god knows how many times, for the sake of the blog not having to listen, i’m out of here. The bigger man is once again walking away. Just out of curiosity, have you ever heard of the expression ‘giving someone enough rope to hang himself’? I’d think about that long and hard if i was you.

I’m not being facetious here but BDM’s popular dynamism which is always widely appreciated on the blog, has been absent for a few days.  I’ve been away and well out of range of a mobile signal, a wifi beam, not a sniff of broadband, forget a dial-up connection;  all I had was my trusty wind-up radio  and a set of semaphore flags.

But now I’m back in the technological world I’m reviewing the usual guff deposited here.  Once I’ve examined this offal and the foul gusts of verbal pollution that have been wafting around the blog lately, I’ll respond.  Being the possessor of a vituperative pen, expect my sharp tongue and keen mind to be applied.

I will say however it was posted as a joke.
Not sure even about jokes on here now – I think my jokes are not bad – but they seem to offend those that want to be offended.

  • 53 GeordieTwo // May 13, 2016 at 7:36 PM

An empty statement. Just what I expected. Ashley is a completely hopeless knob. That isn’t going to change. If he retains Charnley and Carr I would think we won’t get back up. Not next season and not in the near future.

  • 54 GeordieTwo // May 13, 2016 at 7:42 PM

When you think about it what could Ashley actually say that would help? He could start with “I now realize I’m a completely hopeless knob who knows nothing about football. And to make matters worse I’ve always hired other completely hopeless knobs to work at the club until we were forced to take on Rafa. As it stands I’m too stupid to admit past mistakes and so I will continue on in the same direction until the club is in Division Two. Then I will continue on in the same direction.”

  • 55 YouCouldn'tMakeItUp // May 13, 2016 at 7:42 PM

    Mr T

Yeah i assumed it was posted as a joke. I suppose expanding any more on it would be like poking a wasps nest, and I too would receive a telling off. After reading the blog over the past week, i think I might be made of plastic :-O

  • 56 ShirebrookToon // May 13, 2016 at 7:43 PM

Nice to see the club is finally communicating with us after all this time!!!!!!!!!! lol

Fcuk off jabber and take penfold,Carr etc with you except Rafa of course!

  • 57 GeordieTwo // May 13, 2016 at 7:44 PM

Stubborn as a mule that man. And just about as bright.

  • 58 Back Door Man // May 13, 2016 at 7:45 PM

I think what makes all this worse is the thought of all those baying scum deluding themselves in the belief that they sent us down.  We all know that the blame lies foursquare with the third-rate Wally the Johnnie … the damage was all self-inflicted well before Manuel arrived.  Wally lacked the ‘stones’ to do what was needed, if in fact, he ever knew what was needed.  The sad fact was, and it was plain to all, even to members of the lower orders here, that the negligence trickled down from Charnley and his bag carriers

We’ve been cheating relegation for the past three years and appointing that ‘wrong ‘un’ Wally was some perverted death wish.

For those of us with very, very long memories this is familiar ground.  Apart from a short exciting period in the mid 90s it would seem that we are condemned to being just another badlyu run club which lacks ambition. It doesn’t take some third-rate CSI finger nail scraping investigation to discover the perps responsible.

If Manuel quits we’ll witness “all the usual suspects” being mentioned as our saviour, like gaggle of chubby male strippers hopelessly auditioning for a Soho review and, once down to their satin G strings, reveal they have nothing substantial to add to the show just a legacy of lower division failure.

This weird, loony adhesiveness – a kind of daft monogamous cuddling fest – which is beginning to emerge among some bloggers that we’ll take next season by storm, is deluded.  We haven’t just opened some creaking door to the sunlit meadow of the old Second Division to create a new era where everyone would be free to read Chekhov or Dostoevsky in the original Russian whilst scoffing a Greggs pie washed down with a flute of Moët.

  • 59 Jail for Ashley // May 13, 2016 at 7:48 PM

If he retains Charnley and Carr in their roles with a manager like Stuart Pearce who would be desperate enough to kid himself that he could succeed where McCardew failed then we’ll drop into league one, a footballing hierarchy that would not or could not recognise that we needed a LB, CB and ST how on earth could we expect them to get us promoted.

  • 60 GeordieTwo // May 13, 2016 at 7:50 PM

We’ll continue to wait for any positive developments but I’m not holding my breath. I just can’t see Rafa taking a chance and staying with us with Ashley at the top. He has probably run into his type before. Unscrupulous businessman who has an ego the size of a planet. Who would want to work for that piece of filth?

  • 61 GeordieTwo // May 13, 2016 at 7:52 PM

Spot on Jail mate @59. I just can’t see a way out of this if Ashley retains ownership. He can’t or won’t change. He only trusts other weasels like himself. He has no sense of doing the right thing for club or community. His only goal is more money but he doesn’t even know how to achieve that in football. Beyond sad for all of us.

  • 62 lochinvar // May 13, 2016 at 7:55 PM

Back Door Man – a fine script indeed. Enjoyed reading that. Just thought you should know it’s raised the tone considerably !

  • 63 lochinvar // May 13, 2016 at 8:05 PM

If Rafa can persuade Ashley to hand him total control of all football matters from the top down then that’s a position he ( Rafa ) hasn’t had the chance to revel in – a chance to build an iconic football club to the level of European greats . That’s ambition, that’s the challenge.
Rather like the Big Top Rafa would be Billy Smart and Cathro the lion tamer , leaving Carr and Charnley as the clowns falling over themselves although preferably the Clowns shouldn’t be allowed to perform because they are far too scary and make Chuky look like Barbie on a bad day.

  • 64 Jail for Ashley // May 13, 2016 at 8:09 PM

Apparently they’re trying their best to keep him according to that link I posted but you just don’t know if the journo has been nobbled by KB, why turn to a PR guru for advice on how to run a football club.

  • 65 Moonraker15 // May 13, 2016 at 8:14 PM

I’m watching Sheffield Weds in the playoffs v Brighton and thinking, “how long have they been out of the top division?” Gulp!

  • 66 GeordieTwo // May 13, 2016 at 8:14 PM

BBC One – takes a look at Sports Direct, the company that made controversial Newcastle United Football Club owner Mike Ashley his fortune – and discovers workers paid around a pound a day for a 12-hour shift making clothes to be sold in his stores.
It has been shown clinically that many CEO’s and company heads are sociopaths. I would put Ashley in that bracket but it would take a proper study of his behavour to prove it. I can provide citations for anyone interested in the literature.

  • 67 GeordieTwo // May 13, 2016 at 8:21 PM

The thing about sociopaths is that it has been shown they care about nothing except money and they will do anything to get it. Anything. Ruthless behaviour is rewarded in business because it can lead to more profit for a company. Destroying people is not a problem if you have no conscience. Destroying the club is slightly more puzzling because it will lead to a loss of income for Ashley. Other factors are clearly at work here. Having earned a fortune in business Ashley wanted a plaything to show off to his few friends? I would suspect he’s more interested in sycophants and admirers than friends. Anyway it would be a fascinating study if possible. I hardly think Ashley would agree to it. I think he knows himself quite well.

  • 68 lochinvar // May 13, 2016 at 8:21 PM

    JailforAshley – hope that’s the case .
I think most here can see the opportunity for Rafa and the Club.
In the same way as many spotted the need for a LB and CB ( Van Dijk for example ) and getting rid of McClaren before Xmas, unlike the muppets running the show.
Let’s hope that this time Nero ( Ashley ) stops fiddling and calls the Fire Brigade.

  • 69 BandB // May 13, 2016 at 8:31 PM

That’s a scarily apt analogy Lochinvar.
Nero had no intention of calling on the services of the urban cohort, which was responsible for fire-fighting duties.
Instead, his huge Imperial Palace and gardens rose over the charred wreckage, amid a teeny weeny bit of suspicion.
Suspicion he diverted by sending Christians to the lions.

  • 70 Yo-yo // May 13, 2016 at 8:57 PM

See I’ve missed today’s blog love-ins. BDM with himself and Bobby and BandB. It’s a SNAFU for the Toon.

Agree that the bounce back into the EPL is far from assured. If Rafa goes, unless we get a real quality option, I think we’ve had it for a few years. The Chron piece really shows how far out of his depth Charmless really is, and how bogus the triumvirate of the Board was.
Player egos have clearly been a big part of our downfall.

Losing Rafa and keeping Charmless would be the worst of all possible options. Doomed.

  • 71 Average_Contents // May 13, 2016 at 9:15 PM

  • 75 GeordieTwo // May 13, 2016 at 9:38 PM

Will we be able to beat teams like QPR and Birmingham next season? Those are going to be the real tests. The teams from the top half this season minus those that go up and plus Villa and Norwich of course. It could be a real challenge despite what Ashley is saying about a quick return to the Prem. He had better have a real plan this time, not that bollocks he served up last summer.

  • 76 Yo-yo // May 13, 2016 at 9:45 PM

    Two big fat constants ?

  • 77 jimmysmith // May 13, 2016 at 9:51 PM

It will look like the usual BS if Rafa isn’t convinced to stay, and not at all if he does. With this I’d take the view the intent is most probably legit, unless Rafa’s decision suggests otherwise. It would be most odd not to try as much as possible to bounce straight back after all. Whether he’ll ultimately be prepared to fund the level of Benitez’s aspiration when the rubber hits the road though is more contentious. Benitez will ask for a lot.

  • 78 GeordieTwo // May 13, 2016 at 9:52 PM

The only way back up will be hard work and good football. Like last time except we don’t have anywhere near enough of the right type of players this time. Do you understand that Ashley?
