Mike Ashley Gets Strong Advice On What He Needs To Do

10:08 am, Monday, May 16th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 17 Comments

Mick Quinn got on Twitter after the final whistle was blown yesterday after a 10 man Newcastle side had scored 3 unanswered goals in the last 20 minutes and slammed Spurs 5-1.

So much for the best defense in the Premier League.

Mick wants the balloon heads at Newcastle to sign up Rafa.

With a little translation we can only assume he means owner Mike Ashley and his Sergeant at Arms – the arrogant and incompetent Lee Charnley – who make up the Brains Trust at the club.

For the first time ever Ashley is not in a position of power.

It’s clear as day that the only hope for this club is for Rafa to stay. The PR disaster alone if he left would ensure that the bad blood persists and the club would not get promoted.

Benitez has dealt with the most wealthy, morally bankrupt, egotistical power brokers in the game at the highest level all his career. He knows the tricks and he knows Ashley needs him more than he needs Ashley.

I believe he wants to stay but he has given himself two weeks because every single promise he extracts from Ashley he wants in writing and in a water tight contract.

If he gets that then Rafa is our manager and things don’t look bleak. If the club so much as try and alter one single clause that he isn’t happy with he will walk.

well put it this way if mike Ashley doesn’t give rafa what he wants it shows his ambition of our club so rafa doesn’t stay Ashley should sell up and find another club he can wreck from top to bottom

he did’nt get to long so hard to say how he did tbh,he seemed to slot straight in at right back….and didnt look out of place is about all you could really say about him.

anyone think townsend will make the euro squad…quick yes or no before its announced at 11a.m

It can not only be about what Rafa can extract from the situation, although MA should recognise that everything possible should be granted. However, Benitez will also be open to other offers and has negotiated terms which will need to be equalled by any potential challenging club.

Personally I hope MA accepts that to survive the business model for NUFC needs to evolve and whilst there has been some success, there has been greater number of wasted opportunities.

Incredibly, balloon-head Charnley looks like he may be safe. I suppose Ashley will want some continuity and someone to do the paperwork. He should certainly offer up the heads of Carr, Beardsley etc. who won’t be missed, and take Rafa’s advice on their replacements. Charnley should not be included in that dialogue, of course.

  • 9 beermonkey // May 16, 2016 at 10:58 AM

maybe we will see alot of sterry when janmatt ships out

townend yes he will make the squad

ashley would do his image the world of good if he was to give rafa just about carte blanche to do as he wants, which may make hima better proposition if he were ever to leave us and maybe buy rangers……if ashley had invested heavily in newcastle with a good manager, cjhallenged for cups and top 4 positions on a regular basis, would the rangers fans of kicked off so angrily or would they have welcomed his investment?….ashleys ways of doing things are not working, and is wasting his money, his only sound financial move really, is to back the manager and be better a better run club or sell up and wash ya hands of the whole lot….to do anything else is to waste even more money.

Great result yesterday but make no mistake, those players did it for themselves! No coincidence it was wijnaldum, sissoko and janmaat that played well. Id bet money they are the first 3 away!
Expect a mitrovic kick off too, his family are absolute nut jobs! They won;t want to see him in the championship!
Guessing a lot of players will wait to see if rafa stays so they can use it as an excuse to go if rafa leaves

the sad fact is i don’t think ash gives a rats if bad blood persists, in fact i think he positively thrives on it. The guy’s a wrongun.

Even now has Ash grasped that all his penny pinching in the past on poor administrators, 3rd rate managers and unsuitable players, followed by his last desperate gamble throwing 82M at a poor manager in SM, ably assisted by further incompetents C&C is not the way to go.

yes rafa will cost, winners generally do, but if come september it’s agent bruce or a similar low grade journeyman, the disconnect between fans and ash could become permanently irreparable and everone a lOser.

    My euro squad:

    4th defensive midfielder
    2nd right back
    3rd keeper

  • 16 Lindisfarne // May 16, 2016 at 11:22 AM

Agree, I hope MA has sufficient wit to recognise the opportunity currently in his grasp.

  • 17 premier // May 16, 2016 at 11:55 AM

Ashley does what he wants and turns up when it suits him–just like the players. they must think they are only on show in the window at home as cant do owt away from home. Even then I wonder if they could have showed as much fight (Mitrovic aside) if Spuds have showed any more interest!
