Exciting News For Newcastle Fans On Benitez Appointment

It looks like the saga of signing Rafa Benitez to a three years contract is coming to an end and there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Whereas the news yesterday was that it could be late next week by the time both sets of lawyers are finished agreeing to the wording of the (rather large) set of agreements between the two sides, the news today is that it’s going to be early next week when Rafa is unveiled.

The talks between Ashley, Charnley and Benitez have actually progressed extremely well in the circumstances with almost immediate agreement on the Newcastle side to the detailed demands of the former Liverpool manager.

The latest news is that there were fresh talks yesterday between Lee Charnley and Rafa and they again went well and there seem to be no hitches at this point.

An announcement could come before mid-week – and that will be great news for skeptical Newcastle fans, who simply don’t trust the people running the club at the moment – with good reason.

Benitez has been at his home in the Wirral pouring over potential transfer targets and assuming he will be the Newcastle manager for the next three years.

Rafa will also be in charge of all scouting, so he is busy looking at the staff than can come in to run that particular aspect of the club with Graham Carr poised to leave the club.

There have been talks about getting a bank overdraft, so that Rafa has funds  immediately available so he can start bringing new players in early in the summer.

But the transfer amounts being discussed last week are said to be good enough for Rafa, who is said to be pleased with the figures being talked about.

Newcastle will also sell some of their stars to get some additional funds, with Moussa Sissoko, Gini Wijnaldum and Daryl Janmaat expected to be the players that will leave.

But it may take some time for them to be moved out and Newcastle have made it clear they want good money for those three players – maybe close to £45M for the three of them?

With the massive new money from TV rights available in the next financial year which starts on July 1st, Newcastle could well see some big bids for those three players coming in.

It’s important, given our significantly reduced revenues for next season, that we get the most we can for the players we sell in the summer.

The plans are for Newcastle to hold a press conference to announce the signing of  Rafa next week – and that should be good to watch, where hopefully Rafa can talk about the vision he has for Newcastle United.

Here is what Rafa Benitez has asked for and been given by Newcastle United:

  1. Full control of all transfers into and out of the club
  2. Significant transfer funds to enable the building of a good squad quickly
  3. A complete overhaul of the Youth Academy
  4. Significant upgrading of the Benton Training Facilities
  5. Control of the medical department
  6. Control of all scouting and recruitment activities

As well as being absolutely great for Newcastle fans, it’s also a massive opportunity for Rafa to take a sleeping giant of a club – called Newcastle United – and transform it into a powerhouse in Europe – and that’s exactly what Rafa intends to do.

Sounds fabulous to us.

🙂 🙂 🙂

I will happily sit through a season in the Championship if it means we can rebuild the club and come out of this better and stronger. I don’t think I could have endured another season of dashed hopes and frustration. Come on Rafa, let’s make it official and start rebuilding.

He needs to build a team in the championship that is capable of competing in the premiership. That way we may actually look at competing in the domestic cups.

if rafa does sign the contract then us fans have to stand by him through thick and thin, we have had far to many managers and we have to stick by rafa even when the results aren’t good, its only natural we will have bad results, Ashley needs to let rafa run the club the way he sees fit and does not interfere in anything Ashley needs to sort out charnley as well because I point the finger at both him and carr over our relegation but above all else we need to give rafa 100% backing full stop

if sissoko gini and janmaat are leaving then we want top dollar for them don’t let them go cheap, I would price both sissoko and gini at 20 million each and 10 for the crap defender 🙂

Next season I am looking for a good Cup run, perhaps quarter finals, to show an improvement and it is what fans deserve. Not a sense of entitlement but a realistic ambition.

I wonder what the details of the overdraft are and how it affects the clubs stability?? Apart from that I just can’t wait for Rafa to sign up.

Overdraft? Well, well if only Charnley and Carr hadn’t wasted £80m last season, there’s probably be no need for one.

However, it’s water under the bridge.

Ive never felt as optimistic about our future since KK arrived, lets hope Rafa does stay, make no mistake, we will take off.
Full houses in the championship will embarrass certain premier lge clubs. Take note.
