This Midfielder Could Be Rafa’s First Signing For Newcastle

Newcastle are being linked in the French press with 6ft 4ins Senegal midfielder Cheick N’Doye, who currently plays for Angers in France, and as far as we can tell we have never been linked with this player before.

He’s 30 years old and normally that would mean no bid from Newcastle, but now it’s up to Rafa Benitez who he signs and if this players is what he wants, then Newcastle will attempt to get him to the club.

The twice capped Senegal International had an excellent season for newly promoted Angers in Ligue 1 this last season and he is said to want to move to England.

Cheick N’Doye – 30 year-old Angers midfielder

It seems that Angers are keen to sell their midfielder this summer and while he would probably want a move to a Premier League club, Rafa Benitez at Newcastle could certainly tempt him to Tyneside.

We  have a number of French speaking players at the club which could help – or at least we used to have a number of French speaking players at Newcastle.

French paper L’Equipe are reporting that Newcastle one of the clubs said to be interested in the midfielder.

One of the things with these reports is whether it’s a Graham Carr target – which may be likely in the case since he’s playing in France – or a new Rafa Benitez target.

Being in France we would normally think he would be a Graham Carr target, but not at 30 years old, so maybe he is one of Rafa’s new targets – that the 56 year-old Spaniard has drawn up over the last couple of weeks?

Born in Senegal Cheick has played all his football in the lower leagues in France and joined Angers last year from Creteil.

He has played 34 times for Angers with 10 goals and 4 assists and while at Creteil played 80 times with 21 goals and 2 assists.

What do you think?

Would say no but I’m forgetting that we’re now a championship club. We need brute force in that midfield role so I say go for it. However he is hardly a replacement for Tiote as they are the same age.

He could be a replacement for Tiote though, don’t forget other foreign clubs are after Tiote and hitting the £10 million mark

Another of Rafa’s ‘first signings’ i see. What’s that? Three now? None of which would set us on fire. More paper talk imo.

Defence needs sorting and a tweak here and there in midfield & Attack. Fingers crossed Rafa stays then we’ll see who is actually a target and possible signing. Until then and the shirt shots it’s all paper talk

Bobby, I expect without exaggeration that we’ll be linked with millions more.

Scottish cup final is a cracking game but I won’t say the score in case anyone is recording it.
