Former Newcastle Head Coach Gets New Job

John Carver has been out of work since he was fired from Newcastle United almost exactly a year ago.

But news today that Carver has been appointed as the new manager of Cypriot side AC Omonoia Nicosia.

John Carver – has a job in Cyprus

The club announced the appointment on their web-sire this morning:

“Our Association announces that it has agreed with the 51-year-old English coach, John William Carver, to take over the coaching of our team.”

“Mr Carver is in America for personal reasons, but will break his journey to begin work immediately to our team, to start preparing for the new season.”

“Mr Carver worked at Newcastle, where he served as head coach, and assistant coach, next to top coaches like Bobby Robson and Alan Pardew.”

“He also worked at Leeds United, Toronto FC and Sheffield United.”

John had a disastrous time of it in the second half of the 2014-2015 season when he was the interim head coach and we lost eight PL games in a row and only just avoided relegation on the last day of the season.

We didn’t learn one single thing from that experience and were duly relegated last month.

John had applied for a number of positions in England, but he was unsuccessful, but he has a chance again in management – albeit in Cyprus.

It just so happens that former Newcastle center-back Nikos Dabizas is the Technical Director at the club and Nikos was at Newcastle from 1998-2004.

Nikos spent five good years at the club when Sir Bobby Robson was manager and John was the assistant manager.

We hope John  is successful in his new endeavor.

Wow, best manager in the PL goes to such a minor league, even more humble than Rafa joining a Championship side.
