The Newcastle fans for keep turning up and supporting the lads last season, even though some of the away performances were the worst in many years and some of our better players like Moussa Sissoko and Gini Wijnaldum went missing far too many times.
They now are the two who can’t seem to get out of the door quickly enough – and we have just had the continuing soap opera of Moussa Sissoko – “I want to play for a Champions League Club” plead quite shamelessly with Arsenal to sign him.
We have good news for Moussa – they can sign him – but it will cost them £20M for a player who thinks he’s worth that much.
🙂
Rafa Benitez – Newcastle manager
We’ll see who snaps up Moussa for that fee.
Let’s be clear here – the only reason there was a sold-out crowd on that final day of the season and the only reason we won that game 5-1 was down to one man – Rafa Benitez.
The only reason there have been no real protests at our rather pathetic relegation is because we have Rafa Benitez at the club and the fans believe in Rafa – completely.
The world-class manager not only had Newcastle getting 12 points over the last six games, but even had the defense looking good and we scored 12 goals and conceded only 4 goals in those games.
We are all hoping that is a prelude to even greater things from the new Newcastle United side that Rafa is building.
Mike Ashley is not stupid and he knew exactly what things would be like if he hadn’t persuaded Rafa to stay on.
But he did – and credit goes to him for that – the news is that he agreed willingly to everything that Rafa asked for – and now Mike has to stay out of the way and let Rafa get on with things.
That’s Mike’s new role at Newcastle and it’s crucial he not interfere if Rafa is to take us back to the heights we attained under both Kevin Keegan and Sir Bobby Robson in the Premier League.
For the first time in a long time we have somebody who really knows football who is almost completely in charge of Newcastle.
And add to that the fact that Rafe is ultra-ambitious – and the sky’s the limit as to where he can take Newcastle United.
Love it!
🙂

Doesn’t mix with single malt that well.
No, have kept pretty busy but running down mountains and ocean sailing didn’t do my hips any good, nor working at sea. Knees are the other bits that usually go wrong, but mine are okay for now.
Unlike you JIB I don’t have any problems with BandB.
Nor, unlike you, do any real or imagined other bloggers stare at my arse, either longingly or with amazement that I can talk through it.

Comment #62Do you have a problem with me Jib?
Last night and this morning you seemed more offended by my squibs against Mike and belatedly hopped aboard the bobby issue when that got more purchase.
And don’t mind people throwing humourless radgies or talking about their illnesses. I can empathise with both.
Its when a self-pitying mega rant aimed at people you detest is followed by “must go, my ambulance is here” that it looks kinda clunky.
