Rafa Benitez Reported After Spanish Striker

4:23 pm, Thursday, June 16th, 2016 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 18 Comments

Newcastle are said to be considering a move for 21 year-old Spanish striker Jose Naranjo, according to a report coming out of Spain.

Naranjo (full name – Jose Manuel García Naranjo) is said to be available for €3M (£2.38M ) due to a release clause in his current contract which lasts for another two years.

He plays at Spanish second division side Gimnastic de Tarragona and the news is being reported by
Spanish media outlet Cadena Ser.

The youngster stands just under 6ft tall and scored 15 goals in 34 games last season, but the Championship will still be a step up for the young striker from the Spanish Segundo.

While he can play as an out-and-out striker he can also play on either wing.

The young striker only moved to Gimnastic last year from Recreativo and signed a three year deal at the time.

Benitez will bring an experienced striker into the ranks this summer at Newcastle and that’s not Jose – who seems to be one for the future.

We assume Rafa has been alerted to the youngster via his multiple contacts in Spain.

Comments welcome.

That has to be Stirlings last game for a while. 135 mins of tripe.

On woy….it’s rare for any manager to make 2 changes at half time. Obviously kane and stirling look good in training. He deserves a little bit of credit at least for sticking to a dominant system, but changing the personel. We played Russia and Wales off the park. We just couldn’t score without an in form vardy and with a misfiring kane.

Quite a day really. England V Wales in a competition. Bit of history really. Hasn’t done Bales value any harm either. Come to that Vardy. I think his price is going up 🙂

Yeah i agree. Ali was half a yard off the pace today. I think if roy hadnt have been going all out to win, he would have subbed him

No offence, Ed but is Jib your go-to rumour source now?

Welshie, you can come out now marra. 😉 You’ll beat Russia and qualify, so nothing lost too much. Might meet again even, further on down. (With luck anyway. 😉 )

Can we expect to see the English head-bangers being faced with an alliance of Welsh and Russian butters?

  • 9 lesh // Jun 16, 2016 at 4:56 PM

    * butters = nutters!

Think a new National anthem is in order for NI?

Townsend might have been worth keeping in the squad eh.

Sterling has been a passenger and shouldn’t be seen again in an England shirt this summer.

Glad it wasn’t just me. He looked ineffective and I think marks right, if we wouldn’t of been chasing the game he’d of got hooked possible for Wilshire or Barkley.

Saying that, they can both attack pretty effectively in their own right.

Barkleys more of a show pony though whereas Wilshire will look for the pass through the eye of a needle and play in the striker.

Perfect combination if vardy’s on the pitch imo.

Bet the Welsh are gutted lol.

Shearer called it right. Like playing with 10 men.

Townsend should of definitely gone over that little blurt.

If Woy deserves (heavy) criticism for his sun’s, or lack of against Russia then I do think he deserves praise for changing it up at half time. Mind, like A_C says, Sterling shouldn’t have been anywhere near the pitch today but I do think Kane should have been given another chance.

Stirling’a face fits and what’s more, he’s a sarf based player so there we have it.
